BERNE DEFEATS MOOSE LEGION TEAM, 18 TO 4 Winning Team Enters Finals of District Tourney By V ictory Pounding out 10 runs in the first two innings, the Berne junior Legion team went on to hand the Decatur Moose team a decisive IS I defeat in a semi-final game in the Fourth district tournament Thursday afternoon. By this victory, Berne will play In the championship g me Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock, meeting the winner of the Angola Arch er Truckers game, which is to be played at It a. tn. Saturday. Berne tallied three runs in the first frame on four hits and came back in the second inning for a scoring spree that netted seven more runs The winners continued their run getting, scaring in every inning but the sixth. Decatur scored only in the sixth inning, tallying four runs on four hits and a walk. Hits in this inning were delivered by Jackson. Darkless, Wynn and 11. Coffee while W. Coffee drew a pass. Perue obtained a total of 16 hits ■ off three Decatur pitchers and the run total was swelled by seven Decatnr errors. Foreman and Dro led the Berne batting attack with' three blows each. Home runs were smashed out by Dro and Baker. Decatur lashed out only five safe blows. Jackson connecting twice. I The locals were handicapped by I the absence of three regulars. Bark I er. catcher.
