President Roosevelt and Governor McNutt knew public sentiment when they took a stand on an important question. So far it has been a clean sweep for those favoring repeal. The country evidently made up its mind a few years ago. Buy a house, buy a farm, buy merchandise, buy something for any money invested at present prices is sure to earn you a good profit. Os course there is argument against inflation but most folks seem to prefer it to inundation which rapidly approaching when the program started. In the conjested centers the poor relief agencies are supplying ice to the poor people instead of coal and believe it or not, one seems about as necessary as the other. The crops in Adams county are coming along. Much of the corn is up jnd about all of it is planted,! beets are cominy through and it is the general belief that the harvest will be an average one. This ninety-six early summer temperature is a little more than m st of us really want when we talk about how much we love the good old summer time, but there are many who prefer it to ten below zero. Fix up the bouse. Labor and m terial are cheaper now than they will probably be in years and its a splendid way to help get things started. Paint, remodel, build. Everybody is doing it. The delegates to the state convntlon which will vote to support the congressional repeal of the Eighteenth Amendment will meet June 26th at Indianapolis. It will ue a formal casting of the ballot which will be in favor of repeal by about 246 to 86. according to the reports. Another question settled. Some of the congressmen appear to be back sliding a little on the economy program but if they go so far that Pesidenf Roosevelt takes it up with the people, they wjll soon be enlightened as to how the BRIGHT WOMAN LOST 20 POUNDS Feels Much Better "June 28th, 1932. majority feels about this important matter at this time. The next state to vou. on the amendment question is lowa, on June 20. These hot days may have something to 'do with influencing the voter one way or the other, but predictions are made that it will join the other ten states in voting for repeal. After a quiet campaign in which the voters were permitted to vote their sentiments without persuasion. Adams county gave a majority favoring repeal of the Eighteenth Amendment by a little less than three hundred. The vote was about sixty per cent of normal. What the results would have been if the usual number had been cast is a matter for conjecture and the various persons interested are guessing on it. Indiana has joined the ten states which voted ahead of it and will favor repeal and it is the general belief that the 36 states necessary for repeal, will be obtained during the year. Temperance forces will probably turn their attention to the states, where various forms of control will be set up. Reports for the first two months of 1933. compared with the same period last year, just received by the safety section of the American Railway Association, showed reductions not only in the number of accidents at railread-highway grade crossing', but also in the number of casualties resulting therefrom. Accidents at grade crossings totaled 534 for the first two months in 1933. a reduction of 147 compared with the same period in 1932. Fatalities resulting from such accidents totaled 209 in the first two months of this year, a reduction of sixty-four over the same period last year, while persons injured in that period this year totaled 607, whicn is 143 less than last year.
