*- sa i COUNTY AGENT’S COLUMN <Editor’s note: Three of the Adams county girls who attended the 4-H club roundup at Purdue, have written interesting letters concerning their experiences. The first of these letters is printed today. Others will be printed as space permits). "Wednesday morning. May 3, three cars containing the winning 4-H club members, left Decatur about 7:30 o’clock for Purdue. In the party were the county agent, Miss Madeline Robin of Bryant, Miss SpUller, four boys and four girls, including myself. "Weather was gloomy, cool and a few showers. We traveled over splendid roads and through country of beautiful scenery, the trip being about a hundred and thirty miles. “We reached Kokomo about 12 o’clock. We stopped there for dinner and a short rest. "At 1:15 we were at Lafayette. We went to our looming house and unpacked. 1 might explain here, that the two teachers and we four girls had rooms in a modern home of a very nice family and we purchased most of our meals at the Union building. From the rooming house wo went to the Union building and mailed some cards. "We also purchased tickets to attend the different events. We saw a baseball game between Pur-1 due and Chicago—Purdue won by i one run. , I "For the evening entertainment a very good program was given by the Glee Club, which was broad- i cast over the radio. Thursday morning. May 4. we girls were eager to start another day. We decided to spend the morning sight-seeing, so we drove out to Prophet’s Rock. We visited Tippecanoe battlefield and took some pictures there. We came j back uptown about 10:30 and went I to the Agricultural building wherh we saw how ice cream was made, 'different points about cheese making and how they tested milk. The thing that interested me most was an ice cream cake made in ten minutes. "The next place we visited was the poultry and egg exhibition, : which was also interesting. After ' lunch we attended the demonstration in the Home Economics building in which the use of a “first aid kit" was given by two different I teams. Another demonstration was on the fitting ot dresses, selection ' of patterns, methods, etc. “In the evening we went to the I cattle show. There were a lot of;

comical things on the program which made it more interesting. After we left the show, we walked around uptown, ahd then went to our rooming house, tired enough to go to bed. “Friday morning, May 5. it was raining. We spent the morning looking over the town. We visited the zoo and from there went to one of the green houses and saw a line collection of plants. “In the afternoon we attended the demonstrations at the Home Economics building, where the three best demonstrations were given over, “Decorating My Bedroom by Rockford county girls (first), "Accessories," by West Lafayette (second), "Fitting the Feet,” by Marion county girls (third). There were eighteen demonstrations in all. “From 1:30 to 2:30 we girls went shopping and at 2:45 we attended a dress revue, which was very interesting. From there we went uptown and visited another greenhouse. “At 4:15 we went to our rooming house to get ready for the buiH quet we were to attend that evening. After the banquet a very interesting program was given, af- '■ ■ ——

ter which Lhe awards to the different counties were made. From the banquet and program, we went through the Foundry and Locomotive building. “Saturday, May 6, we got up at 5:30 o'clock to get ready for the trip home. We left I’urdue at 8 o’clock and arrived in Decatur at 1:15 o'clock. “We ail voted the trip itself, and the three days at Purdue to be a wonderful worth-while even to cherish in memory as long as we live. “Elizabeth Beihold." 0 —— Dog Was Unharmed by Fall Boise, .Idaho — (UP) —■ A large German shepherd dog jumped from a third story window, landed on an awning half way down, then slid - onto 'a pedestrian, walking along the sidewalk.
