Representative PRESIDENT'S DAY: Next Sunday will be observed all over these United States as President's Day, an occasion when an expression of loyalty will be given by millions of people. For nearly four years we have i been going down hill economically. I Millions have lost all they had, I banks have closed in every sec-; tion, business became stagnant <nd i we were rapidly approaching chaos ' and a wrecked financial condition that meant ruin for every one. During recent weeks we have taken on new life and every one. ; cueoaraged by swift and definite action by the President, is now making extraordinary effort to pull out of the difficulties which for so long seemed unsurmountable. We can do it if we will fur after all much of our troubles have been a i lack of confidence. In this city and county we are | showing progress and the outlook is the best it has been in a number of years. The banks of course can’t dish out the money unless its there and it can t be there until the tax situation is cleared and the cash is paid in by the citizens. The city has helped by hauling l away the rubbish. Now its up to each house holder to have those 1 things done that will improve the ' property, add to the appearance of » tne city and provide employment. That’s one way we can all help a little. — It pays to advertise. Every one who gives it an honest trial admits ' that. We are proud of today's issue and hope that the results will be such that every merchant ■ will decide to keep it up. Numerous bargains and real ones will be found in today’s paper.
