Clifford Townsend, Democratic nominee for Lieutenant Governor, opened his campaign with a speech here, his home city, last night. Townsend spoke on the Democratic State platform. He favored th<> recently emeted law limiting the property tax to |1.50 on each SIOO of taxable property. Townsend declared that he favored the pannage of an Income tax,and urged the voters to support an amendment to the state constitution which would autholze an income tax in Indiana.
