The Harlow home was decorated with lovely summer flowers arranged in liaskets and bouquets. Several g lines of bridge were played and prizes were awarded to Miss Erma Gage, Miss Cleo Werllng, and Mrs. Sylvester Everhart, consolation. Those present included the Misses Rose and Anna Netiawald, Anna Smith, Rose Scliurger, Erma Gage, Cleo Werllng, Aleta Harlow, the Mesdaines Sylvester Everhart, Clara Anderson, and Mabelle Myers. The Women of the Moose and their children will enjoy a Hamburger fry and swimming party at Greenwater's Bathing Beach, Thusday afternoon at four o'clock. All members who wish to attend are to meet at the Moose home promptly at four o'clock. The regular lodge meeting will be held at the Moose Home at eight o'clock. The Christian church will give: an ice cream social on the Court House liwn, Saturday evening beginning at seven o'clock. Home made cake will be served free with the ice cream. The public is invited The Evangelical church Mission I band will meet, Thursday afternoon at two o'clock in the church .parlors, All children are requested to be present. The Roop reunion will be held at Legion Mem rial Park, Sunday, September 4. LUTHERAN TEACHER TO BE MARRIED THURSDAY Charles Grewe, Ernest Baaermeister, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Werling and daughter Alice of near Tocsin left today for Homestead, lowa where they will attend the wedding of Mis- Minnie Wichman to Arnold Werling of Decatur. The marriage will be perf rmed Thursday afternoon, August 11, at six o’clock at the Lutheran church in Homestead. Following the wedding a dinner will be served at the home of the brides father, John Wichman. Prof. Arnold Werling the groomwas a teacher at the Zion Lutheran scho .l in this city during the past winter. He and his bride will reside in this city. o Aged French Trees Found Le Harve.—(U.P) —A tree census of Normandy discloses the fact that there are many multicentenarians in the forests. A yew tree in the vi'lage cemetery of Saint I'rsin (Manehe) was planted 900 years ago. There is also a colossal yew tree 32 feet around at Blondiere which is known to have been growing in the Seventh century. Scotch Miss Death Sentences Edinburgh. Scotland.— (U.R) —No death sentence was passed in the Scotch courts during 1931. nor were there any executions, the annual report of the Prisons Department for last year shows. The commitments of prisoners of a 1 classes, however, was 16,683 as against 16.616 in 1930. o —■ Redcoat Dead Honored Concord, Mass.—(U.R)-The graves ot Redcoats killed in the battles of Concord and Lexington 157 years ago are not forgotten. Annually delegates, of the British Naval and .Military Veterans’ Association of Massachusetts make a pilgrimage here to place wreaths on them. — — 0 Cohens Win Name Battle Chelsea. Mass.— (U.R) — Here, it isn’t a case of "keeping up with the Joneses,” but with the Cohens. The new city directory lists 132 Cohens and only 25 Joneses. The Cohens also outnumber the Smiths by a wide margin. Test Tuge Radio Station Moscow.— (U.R) — Experimental broadcasts on the world's largest radio station, being erected in Leningrad are/ scheduled for this month, if these prove successful, the station will lie opened in September. o ‘ Judge Dies at Trial Budapest.- (U.PJ—Br. Peter Buzath, a judge, died of apoplexy while conducting a trial. He col apsed on the bench while a lawyer was pleading before hint and was dead within a minute. o Jail Now Town Kitchen Babcock. Wis — (U.R) — This village of 500 is without a jail for Hie first time in its history. The space formerly used for the jail has been turned into a kitchen for the town hall. Since the jail was built 38 years ago, it has,housed fewer than 30 prisoners. —o Open Air Library Planned Boston.— (U.R) — An open-air library, similar to those in Spanish parks, where visitors may read in comfort during warm weather, will be established on Boston Common this summer. o Wistaria Blooms Portland.
