I j ■ Coming from her native Belgium during the World War to lecture in America on her country and it. people, Baroneo Si.vercruya, daughter of Belgium t Chief Juatice, fell so much in love with the United States that she stayed here, with the result that she is today one of the foremost women sculptors in the country She is now Mrs. Suxanne Farnham with a beautiful home in New Haven, Conn., where her tather-in-iaw is a professor at Yale University Since her rise to fame as a sculptor. Mrs. Farnham has had many notable commiskmns, one of whicu was for a bust of President Hoover for Louvain University. Mrs. Hoover requested a copy of the bust for the White House, d«lanng it was th. best likeness of the Chief Executive she had seen. Tnis year, the brilliant young sculptress is more than usually busy, having been commissioned by the Olvmpics Committee to make statues of the contestants from Yale. Each figure is modeled from life and arrangements ar. being made to award the statue, in bronxe as Olympic trophies. Mr.. New York— Uuring the war. a ((harming youni gir ; came from Belgium t olectitre on her count:y ! and it- eople. Today she is one of , America's most brilliant women ’sculpto s. with wo ks in (private {and public collections boCh here iand in Europe. During the week--end she is the Baroness Silver'■ruys Farmham. with a lovely home at New Hiven. But during the week she is Suzanne Farnham, working in bro.-.ze, granite or marble at her New York Studio. Much ha- happened sin e those war days to the slender.‘dynamic young »< man who is the daughter jot Belgium's Chief Justice, Baron I Silvercruys. She married an AmeriIcan rd s on after came to New Haven to live, was taken seriously j ill. When she was convalescent, some one brought her a little clay I modelling outfit and she began to model delightful little figures. So I good was her work, that in 192a Unite entered the S hool of Fine Arts at Yale Unive sity. where her t'ath-er-in-law 1.; a professor. She completed the five year course in three yerrs and in 1928 was graduated
