MAYAN TEMPLE RECONSTRUCTED Mexico City, Dec. 17. -(U.R) The Temple of the Tigers, another of i the Mayan temples of Chichen Itza, has been reclaimed from almost | I complete ruin. This temple com-1 pletes another part of the court where ancient games were played. The work of exploration and conservation. which is constantly car | ried on in Chichen Itza by the De-: partfneirt of Monuments, yielded the ruins of this interesting mouu-1 ment, which has been reconstruct- > ed by tlie archeologists, Eduardo I Martinez Canton and Jose Ercsa. | The archeologists met with great l difficulty in the reconstruction, as] the facade of the temple was in ruins and the ancient stones of which it had been built were found buried in the ground, surrounded by debris. Even more difficult than the problem of exhuming the stones intact was that of lifting them to their original positions, as some of them weighed more than three I tons.
