The Federal corrupt practices act requires complete financial accountings of political activities falling within the jurisdiction of congress. A transcript of the senate com mittee testimony was given United States District Attorney Leo Rover. This information was submitted to the grand jury. Among the witnesses were bankers and poll-1 ticians, including former Senator] Joseph Frelinghuysen of New Jersey. Tlie senate committee hearing developed testimony that Frelinghaysen, a Republican, had contributed $20,000 to Cannon. Frelinghuysen was quoted in the press as having acknowledged this contribution and as having said it was made at the suggestion of C. Bascom Slemp, Republican national committeeman for Virginia. Miss Burroughs twice refused to testify before the senate committee, in each instance denying its j authority to act. She is named in I each of the 10 counts as principal I because she was treasurer of the I anti-Smith organization and signed such reports as were made to the clerk of the house. Cannop is ] named with Miss Burroughs and is charged in the indictment with "unlawfully and feloniously’’ aiding and aoetting her. The first count of the indictment says: "Ada L. Burroughs was the treasurer of a certain political committee which accepted contributions for the purpose of influencing and attempting to influence the election of presidential and vice-presidential electors in two states; that at divers times contributions of money were made by one E. C. Jameson of New York City, N. Y„ for the said political committee.” Not To Appeal Case Indianapolis, Oct. 16—(U.R) —The Marion county circuit court injunction forbidding publication of House bill 6 will not be appealed, Secretary of State Frank Mayr Jr. announced today.
