MRS BEN SCHROYER SURPRISED ON BIRTHDAY A number of friends pleasantly | surprised Mrs. Ben Schroyer at her I home on North Third street, the occasion being her birthday anniversary The friends arrived at the Schroyer home where they surprised the honored guest, after which they Sunset Park, east of the city and enjoyed a weiner roast and marshmallow bake. ' Several aditional visitors were present at the meetingThe sewing of the 4 H Club was ’ completed, and Wednesday was 1 chosen as Mother's Day, and all members are requested to be pre- 1 sent at the meeting and to bring their mothers and other guests with them. i HONOR GUESTS AT ARTERNOON PARTY The Misses Lucille and Dorothy Miller entertained with a party Monday afternoon in honor of the Misses Ruth and Rose Kintz of Fort Wayne who are visiting here. Games ol Bunco furnished enjoyment throughout the afternoon and high score prizes were won by Miss Patsy Fullenkamp and Miss Ruth Kintz Later in the afternoon light refreshments were served by the hostesses. ANNUAL REUNION HELD AT SUNSET PARK The twenty-eighth annual reunion of the Dettinger family was held Sunday, at the Sunset Park, near Decatur, with seventy-two: relatives in attendance. A bounteous dinner was served at the noon hour after which uni interesting program took place. Mis. Margaret Markley of Bluffton' was the oldest member present at I the family gathering, and Joseph) Keil of Van Wert, Ohio, was the youngest. There was one death!

It was decided to hold the reunion the Yirst Sunday in August at Sunset Park in 1932. ST. MARY’S HOME ECONOMICS CLUB MEETS Mrs. Fred Bender was hostess to the members of the St. Marys Home Economics Club at her home, Friday afternoon. The meeting was called to order by the vice-president Mrs Ben Teeple, and after the opening exercises plans were made for the club picnic which will be held with Mrs. Ben Colter, Friday evening. August 28. The 4 II Club girls displayed the work which they had completed. Dining the meeting one new member. Miss Oris Hilton, was added to the roll. Seventeen members, two visitors, and number of 4-H Club girls and I several children were present. At ithe close of the meeting, the hostess assisted by Mrs Ben Teeple served delicious refreshments. The Ever Ready class of the Methodist Episcopal Sunday School which was to have met with Mrs A. D. Sut’les Thursday, has been postponed one week. — )FORMER LOCAL MAN MARRIED RECENTLY Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Eckrote have received word from their son Donald Eckrote of Beach, California, announcing his marriage to Miss Cweneth Wooten of Long Beach. The marriage took place Saturday, July 25. The newly married couple are now on a wedding trip through northern California and on their return will lie at home at 441 Dawson Avenue, Apartment “C”, Long Beach, California. NINETY-TWO PERSONS ATTEND BRUNNER REUNION The sixth annual reunion of the Brunner family was held Sunday in Sun Set Park, with ninety-two relatives present. Mrs. Jacob Florie and Philis Tetters wrre the oldest and youngest members present, respectively. One birth was reported during the year. It was decided to hold the reunion in 1932 at Lehman Park in Berne, the first Sunday in August. It was also decided to have a program and business meeting at the next reunion. Relatives from a distance who attended the family gathering were Mrs. C. W. Smotherman and Mrs. L. D. Dunn of Knowles. Oklahoma; Mr. and Mrs. Alva Gearhart and daughter June of Kokomo. ENTERTAIN FOR SISTER The Misses Martha and Alice McKean of Monroe entertained with a picnic dinner Sunday at the Lehman Grove in Berne, in honor of their sister, Mrs. Harriett McKean of Auburn who has spent the week visiting with them. Those present at the dinner were the honored guest, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Klopfenstein of Bluftfon; Mi. and Mrs. Ransom Barkley and daughter Evelyn of Decatur; Ora Shoudel of Auburn, Mr. and Mrs. Menno Roth and son Dickie. UNION TOWNSHIP 4-H GIRLS CLUB MEETS The members of the Union Township 4-H Club girls held a meeting in the Immanuel, Lutheran School house recently. A business meeting was conducted and the roll call was answered by the following members who were present. Hilda Blakey, Maxine Coon, Marcella Bleeke, Monema Blakey Mildred Koldewey, Bernice Tumbleson, Helen and Loretta Weiland, Ella Thieme, Amanda Krueckeberg and yittrude Schultz, , Two visitors Marceil Gerke and Del Marbauch also attended the meeting. The system was first used by q Decatur attorney in a case rising out of a traffc accident.
