ZEPPELIN NOT TO BLAME FOR ! BALLOT DEFEAT Court Decides Against Losers In Saxony Election Appeal Dresden. April 2—(UP) —The ad- . ministrative court here has decid-j I ed that the curiosity which promptled polling officials in Oelsnitz, Saxjony. to neglect their duty tn favor j of watching the soaring “Graf Zepj pelin" is not sufficient cause for J annulling a municipal election. 1 The bourgeois parties of Oelsnitz j appealed to the court on the i grounds that the "Graf’s" overhead I visit was responsible for their defeat at the elections Sept. 28, 1930.1 At the previous elections in Nb-1 vember. 1929. the union of bouri geois parties in Oelsnitz had sei cured a majority of one seat in the ■ town council: this election was eanj celled on technical grounds. Uppn 1 its repetition in September, 1930, i the tables were turned and the lib.eral and labor parties won a majority of one over their rivals. On one of its periodic flights over 'Germany, Dr. Hugo Eckener’s ■ "Graf Zeppelin" flew over Saxony •on the day when the citizens of • Oelsnitz were electing their town i council. The defeated ami embitHered bourgeois parties, in demandling the annulment of the election. insisted that members of most of (the election boards, ignoring the , ballot-urns they were supposed to (suard, had rushed to the streets on hearing the whirr of the “Graf’s” ! propellers*. Blaming the Zeppelin for their political ill-fortune, the 1 plaintiffs suggested that the liallot ! boxes might have been stuffed' ' while the election board members were admiring the passing airship The court refused to annul the ( election and Oelsnitz's new alder-1 men and the "left-wing" majority > i in the town council were told that ‘ I they rightfully occupied the ir | ■ seats. o Grange Starts Arguments I Milford, Conn., April 2.--;U.R>— ' Connecticut Granges just can’t ! seem to stop stirring up contral versial family questions.
