Rev. B. H. Fianklin bad charge of ,t e devotional services, after which ,the business of the tlaas was dis- [ cussed. Miss Elizabeth Franklin sang a vocal solo, accompanied at the piano by Miss Sara Jane Kauffman. The Misses Edwina Shroll and Sarah .Jane Kauffman sang a duet, with Mrs. Dan Tyndall the accompanist. Following the program, a contest was enjoyed, and the hostesses tor he meeting served refreshments in keeping with St. Patrick's Day. REGULAR MEETING OF WORK AND WiNN CLASS The members of the Work and Win class of the United Brethren Sunday school attended the regular meeting o: the class which was held at the‘’home of Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Cochran Thursday evening with j Rev. and Mis. R. E. Vance assisting The meeting was opened with devotional services, led by the president Cecil Harvey, followed by a star; business meeting. Games and contests were enjoyed dung the social hour, and Harry Folin.t was an especially honored member last evening, as his birthday anniversary was celebrated. CALVARY LADIES AID KNOTS COMFORTS AT MEETING The ladies Aid Society of the Calvary Evangelical church met in the church parlors, Thursday afternot.n. for the regular meeting of the society. The meeting was called to order by the president, Mrs. James Darr, and ten members responded to the roll call. One visitor Kus alsi p. esent at the meeting. After a short business meeting, the remainder of the afternoon was spen,t in knotting comforts. It. was decided to hold an all-day meeting cn the first Thursday in April, at the Rome of Mrs Fred Harmon. The day will he spent in quilting, and a pot-luck dinner will be enjoyed. I EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MAKES FINAL REPORTS The executive committee of the Women's Missionary Society of the I nited I rethren church held a i meeting at th> home of Mrs. Clar-1 cnee Merryman on Ninth street, [ Thursday evening. • During the meeting Mrs. R. E. Vance reported that every member of the organization had read three books this y»»r. nne foreign, one home, and . .aspirational. She also reported that all pledges had been met in full, and that there was an increase in membership, and in subscriptions to the Evangels. With this fine rating, the society will be placed on the honor roll. The meeting was closed with prayer oy Mrs. John Hill. LUTHERAN LADIES HOLD QUILTING ihe Ladies Aid Society of the Z.on Lutneran Church met Thursday afternoon at tie home of Mrs. Paul Busse, for the purpose of quilting. Thirteen members of the organization were present, and the entire a ternoon was spent in quilting, and at the close, Mrs. Busse served refreshments. The next meeting of the society will be held next Thursday afternoon at one o'dock with Mrs. William HShamerloh at her home on Mburoe street. CHRISTIAN MISSIONARY PLANS PRE-EASTER MEET Mrs. Manley Fo.eman was hostess to the Christian Missionary Society at her home. Thursday evening at which time Mrs. Fred King was the leader. Rev. C. R. Lanman conducted tne devotional* after which Mrs. King presented a complete and interesting review of the work being done in India. Special music was then given by Rev. Lanman. Miss Roselyn Foreman and Miss Mary Kohls. Duiing tne business session plan.: were made for pre-Easter mee ings io be held each Thursday until the week before Easter when services v ill be held each evening, terminating with special programs on Easter Sunday. The Missionary society will sponsor the weekly meetings, beginning next Thursday evening. At the close of the evening Mrs. 1 Foreman served refreshments to the large number of ladies present.
