Mrs. Mary Terveer Celebrates Eightieth Birthday Sunday Mrs. Mary Terveer, loved and 1 known by many persons In this I city celebruted her eightieth birthday anniversary Sunday. Herl children, grandchildren, In-laws and ! a few close friends gathered at her' home to help In the observance of j the most important day in the fami Uy's natal history. At noon u family dinner was I served hy the grandchildren with Miss Margaret Holthouse assisting. Grandma Terveer was seated at the head of the table and at the other end was placed u large cake which she baked herself. In the center of the table was a miniature fship filled with roses representing the ‘Wilma", the ship on which Mrs. Terveer tame to America in 18(5!i Nut cups were in the form of mailer ship models and place cards were individual framed pictures of the celebrant. For desert Ice cream molded into the form of a I ship was served. Mrs. Terveer's grandson Norbert R. Holthouse was master of ceremonies and an afternoon of family happiness was enjoyed. Besides the children and grandchildren, those present were Miss Holthouse. Mrs. Josephine Rodd, Al Volmer, Toledo, Miss Emilie C. Ch’lst, Decatur. Relatives from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. William Dowling of Fort Wayne and Miss Mary Margaret Voglewede of Toledo, Robert Voglewede, Chicago. Mrs. Terveer received numerous greetings of the day from friends in this city and out-of-town and gifts from the children. United Brethren Sunday School will Hold its regular monthly meeting with Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Cochran on South Fifth street, Thursday evening at seven-thirty o’clock. Rev. and Mrs. R. E. Vance will be the assisting host and hostess. Mr. ami Mrs. Homer Arnold will comprise the committee in charge of the program.

During the afternoon Billy Woods and Frank Yager entertained with several musical selections and singing Mr. and Mrs. Dave Adams and daughter Marjorie were evening [guests of Mr. and Mrs. Miller. U. B. LADIES TO HOLD MEETING The Missionary Society of the United Brethren church will meet Wednesday afternoon at two o’clock at the home of Mrs. Frank Fisher. Mrs. R. E. Vance will have charge of the worship service, and the program will be on the fourth and fifth chapters of the study book, "Between the Americas." The following opics will be presented in connection with the lesson: “Backward looks,” by Mrs. Blanche Elzey: “Seeing Cuba,” Mrs. Clarence Mei ryman; "A Relative of Uncle Sam” Mrs. Roy Mumma; "The Church [in Cuba,” Mrs. John Hill; “The [Bible,” Mrs. George Myers; "Tin Wonder Box,” Mrs. Jesse Williams; "Handbook Quiz", by Mrs. Frank [ Bohnke. Mts. D. I). Heller returned Saturday .afternoon from a ten days visit in Indianapolis. Anthony Forblng of Milford, Indiana, called on us this morning. He is the same old Tony. T. M. Reid of Fort Wayne attended to business here this morning. Frank Miller of Fort Wayne was calling on the grocery trade here today. Mr. and Mrs. Dore Anspaugh aad daughter Vera and Mr. and Mre. Ernest Anspaugh of Jefferson Township visited in Deca-itr, Saturday, Mrs. Ivan Stucky of Third street, is confined to her home where she 'is quite seriously ill. I The condition of Mrs. Rosa Ber|nard, who has been ill at the home jot her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Teeple, on route 6. was reported to be a little improved today. Mrs. Bernard has been ill | for the past two weeks. Mrs. Frank Hoilopeter visited in Fort Wayne Sunday, with her daughter, Mrs. Helen Thimlar of Harlan, who underwent a major operation at the Lutheran Hospital, Thursday. Mrs. Thimlar was reported to be improved today. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Brake and son Jimmy of Fort Wayne, and Mr. and Mrs. John Strait of Middletown, Ohio, spent the week end visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Aurand. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Engle and daughter Mary and Mr. and Mrs. Alvy Buffenbarger visited friends in Fort Wayne. Sunday night.
Mrs. John S. Peterson arrived home Sunday from a months visit with her sister, Mrs. Edward Wilson in Los Angeles. She I.nd a delightful trip and a happy visit, seeing nearly ull of the Decatur colony now located there. She also visited with Dr. and Mrs. Boyers and Miss Funny Hite in San Diego. On her way home she enjoyed a day at the Royal Gorge and enjoyed it very much. Dick Heller arived home Saturday night for a day with his family returning to Indianapolis last evening for the final grind in the leglsature. He says the work is heavy just now and he will he vlud when the ink well throwing period comes ui week from tonight. L. C. Waring visited friends at Hamilton lake over Sunday. C. L. Ayres returned to Detroit Saturday evening after transacting business here. James Smith, former street commissioner here, now of Fort Wayne was a caller in Decatur today. Miss Katheryn Aurand and Chalies Brubaker of Fort Wayne were week-end guests o: Mr. and Mrs. Frank Aurand in this city. Little Dale Johnson Jr., who has I been quite seriously ill at his home on West Madison since Saturday night, was reported to be a little improved today.
