——III hihmii i. mu — HARVEY FIGHTS ! VINCE DUNDEE New York. Feb. 13 —(UP) Lon Harvey, a long, lean Briton who looks and acts (except in the ring l Hike anything but a fighter, will renew his bid tonight for recognition as leading contender tor Mickey Walkers 160-pound would chain ipionship. i The pale, anomie looking Engl shIman, veteran of 350 ring bouts, is (billed for 12 rounds with Vince Dunlee of Baltimore. With Mickey W; 1 ter, reigning middleweight, in the laid graces of 'both the New York Athletic commission and the National boxing association, the cards are stacked for tonight's winner to receive recognition as world c hampion. It is certain that a sensational triumph tor the Briton would pave] the way for an international c-ham-1 I pionship bout with Walker. The i hampion and his crafty manager, IJa k Kearns, realize that a Walker I Harvey bout would be a boxing /natural." However. Harvey let a previous igolden opportunity slip through his I fineers when he lost to Dundee last j month after flooring the Baltimore boy four times in the first round, and it is doubtful if he ca t reverse i the wecision tonight. ] nOOfc] (By Pete Reynolds) ■ BEAT NEW HAVVEN! > —oOo—- ■ A real battle faces the Commodores tonight in their own back i yard. They will tackle the New j Haven Bulldogs, led by Paul i White, coach, and a former DePau w star. i —oOo — New Haven defeated the Commodores at New Haven earlier in the season, 24 to 18. and are primed to repeat the defeat. However, the Commodores should be able to stop the Bulldogs tonight. —oOo- - < Fort Wayrtc* Central Catholic ha.l a tenific battle last night before’ nosing out St. Marys, of Anderson, at Fort Wayne, 23 to 22. C. C. had defeated St. Marys badly early in the season but the Anderson five put up a real battle last night. —oOo— Tiie Commodores will play Iwo games with New Haven again next year, according to the New Haven schedule announced tpday. The first game will be played at New Haven, December 11, and the return game here January 20. The Yellow Jackets will also meet the New Haven team in one game, in Decatur, November 20 The Bulldogs are also scheduled with other Adams county teams, as follows: Kirkland at New Haven. October 30; at Berne, November 25; Terne at New Haven. February 5 and Kirkland at Kirkland, February 6. i —oOo — Some exceptionally interesting figures have been made public on the season records to date of the more prominent Indiana teams. Frankfort is leading the list witli eighteen victories in nineteen games played. Frankfort's one loss was to Muncie, a team preI viously defeated twice by Frank'fort this season. —oOo— The Decatur Yellow Jackets hold the next best record with fifteen victories and two losses. Decatur’s defeats were to Bluffton, defeated twice since | that game, and to Auburn in I t’e invitational tourney. Auburn had twice previously fallen victim to the Yellow Jackets’ attack. I —oOo— I The table of statistics shows Bluffton with thirteen victories and three defeats. This should read four defeats as the Tigers have lost twice to Dacatur and once to LaPorte and Kendallville. —oOo — The table below of Indalna high school basketball teams, which in eludes all regular scheduled and tournament contests played prior; to this week, shows number of games wen, lost or tied, percentage. points scored by each team Lin all games and points scored against teams: i Anderson 11 8 .578 462 421 Bedford 9 10'.473 445 455 Bloomington 4 12 .2)0 395 444 Bluffton 13 3 .812 377 282 Brazil 13 5 .722 452 361 Columbus 6 11 .353 432 455 I Connersville 13 6 .684 43) 378 Decatur 15 2 .882 441 280 Delphi 11 5 .687 407 331 I Washington, I of E Chicago 10 5 .667 387 440 I Central of Evansville 10 4 .714 330 262 1 Fort Wayne* ' Central . 5 8 .357 286 270 ] North Side 8 4 .667 227 190 ; South Side 11 6 .647 426 357 Frankfort 18 1 .947 631 378 Franklin 11 7 .611 413 378 I Emerson, Gary 12 4 .750 437 317 LFroebel.
