L, .Jan. 19—(U.R) It's not strange for a bird to catch ti h, or for a cat to catch birds, lint it's a bit unusual for a cat to dive into the ocean to catch fish. Such a cat has Captain Adolf 11. Aronson, keeper of Pomham Light. | The cat, called Tommy, acquired the fishing habit from Captain Aronson's children. Perched mot ionless on a rock. \ Tommy awaits the approach of a| fish, then dives, head first, into, the sea. seizing prey with mouth I and claws. Tommy invariably hides the fish ’ under a lilac bush on the island until he has enough for a meal. The cat doesn’t like the salt water, for he rolls tn the grass to dry himself, whereas after a rain storm he lick, himself dry. Twice Tommy got fisji hooks caught in his mouth when he look a liking to bait attached to thefii as they lay unused on the ground. Each time, Captain Aronson removed the hooks without serious result. o Family Tradition Maintaintd Memphis, .Jan. 19.—(U.R1- For the 68th consecutive year members of the Le-' family, famous as Mississippi rfver pilots and boat owners, dispatched a packet upstream shortly before Christmas carrying sweets, gifts and foodstuffs to rivermen and small communities north of b ro.

Paramount received a call yes- i terday from a Mr. Rango, who is a ' radio announcer. According to his i story, he has received a number ; of letters, asking him about a picture which he was supposed to be making at Paramount. With a little quick thinking, the Publicity Department passed him onto the Legal Department, where the bad news was broken that “Rango” is a jungle film with an ourang-outang as its hero. ■ . WANDERER RETURNS. Long absent from Hollywood, Alla Nazimova will return here, so the story goes, to play in foreign versions. She must postpone her coming, however, until she finishes a run-of-the-play contract in a “A Month in the Country,” the New York Theatre Guild production. Madame Nazimova’s linguistic accomplishments are said to include Russian, French, Italian and Spanish. t BREAK COMEDY TEAM. The long discussed break-up of the comedy t<’am of Bert Wheeler and Robert Woolsey will come in “Too Many Cooks,” a new venture

.of Radio Pictures. Wheeler will appear alone in this comedy by Frank Craven. At the studio, the sentiment prevails that the break is only temporary. Pictures of the comedy team have been among the most successful of the company’s output. Speaking personally, this department will be sorely disappointed if Wheeler and Woolsey continue to follow separate ways. As mentioned before in these columns, Douglas McLean, one time screen favorite, will be an associate producer on “Too Many Cooks.” LATEST GOSSIP. Mickey Neilan is not definitely dempted to short-reelers, as it appears he goes to Fox from Mack Sennetts. . . . Charles Farell calls from a golf course, “out ei bounds.” . . .
