(By Pete Reynolds) — * 11 Another big week coming up for, Decatur basketball players, and tans, too. The Yellow Jackets, will entertain Auburn here Fridaynight. while the Commodores travel I to Huntington the same night Io meet st. Mary’s. 000 I ’ Saturday the Yellow Jackets |< journey to Auburn for the blind t tourney. Bluffton. Kendallville and Auburn are the other teams enter-, ed. The tourney schedule will be ! I drawn about an hour before time for the afternoon session to open. I 000 The Commodores will be out for revenge Friday night. The Hunt-, Ington team defeated the locals on 1 ( the Decatur floor earlier in the ■ season. 12 to 10. and we expect the Commodores to even up for that loss Friday night. ] 000 The Commodores looked plenty tough saturnay mgnt in running up that lop-sided score over Concordia. Holding anv team without a point until the final minute of the third quarter is no mean stunt any time, for any ball club. 000 Zeke Young will bring his Auburn club here for a battle with the Yellow Jackets Friday night. Decatur trimmed Zeke's team by, a few points earlier in the season at Auburn, but the invading five has improved considerably since that time. Last week Auburn ran roughshod over the Columbia City team, which held South Side to a low margin of victory. 000 What we hope for this week, is ! to see the Yellow- Jackets and Bluffton Tigers play in the final game of the tourney Saturday. We cry for reve"ge. Os course, Kendallville a' .. Auburn are likely to have plenty to say about that meet. 000 Looking ahead, this tourney promise to be one of the most evenp- nn»rhed of any of the HO-j called Big Four tourneys. On the season's record, Auburn, the home tcm. seems to lie the weakest of the four, but even they do not rank far behind the other entries."
000 Doping Hip Big Ten basketball race is about as dangerous as fig-, ur'ng Indiana high school teams th’s year. Purdue suffered a serious upset last night, losing by two points to lowa, the supposedly weak sister of the conference. 000 Indiana whipped Ohio State in a hectic struggle, 23 to 21, Monday night at Bloomington. Northwestern. title favorite, nosed out Illinois by two points and Michigan defeated Wisconsin. 000 For fans who like their independent basketball, a treat is in store tonight. The G. E. dub will meet the West Unity, Ohio, five at the D. H S. gym. West Unity defeated the G. E. earlier in the season at West Unity and tonight’s game should be a real battle. 000 Visited Bluffton Sunday. Strange, but the boys (and girlr) are rather elated over the Tiger victory of last Friday night. One fellow even his it figured oqt that Bluffton is quite a number of points stronger than Frankfort. 000 Here's how lie figures: Bluffton beat Decatur, Decatur downed Huntington, Huntington whipped Muncie, and Muncie defeated Frankfort. SOME figuring. Os I course, we could turn right around and figure how much stronger Decatur really is than Bluffton, hut we don't believe it ito be necessary. Time will tell! 000 The annual Adams county seci ond team tourney will lie field in I the D. H. S- gym on Saturday, ■ January 24. All nine of the county teams are eligible to play in this ■ tourney. This is the one time in ! the year when the second teams
