NEW INVENTION TO PHOTOGRAPH HEART BEATS Action Reflected on Mirror By German Apparatus Berlin, Dec. 19.— (U.R) —An apparatus by which photographs of heart beats and other body sounds can be seen in the form of oscillating waves in a mirror and can also be photographed at will, has just .been invented by Herr Martiny. a Berlin engineer. It is exp cted that the invention I will supersede the old method of Ist thoscopy. The new invention, (the electro-stethoscope, will in | short do for stetboscopy what the | Roentgren-ray apparatus has don i for surgery and medicine. The invention consists of two I parts, the apparatus itself being a single whole. The first part, which is an application of modern radio technique to the needs of nr dicine, consists of a sound amplifying apparatus proceeding from the body of a patient. The second part (of the apparatus converts the sounds into linear waves whicji are reproduced and made visible lin a mirror. In front of the mirror i is fitted a Camefa and pressure upon a lever serves to set it in action when photographs of the recorded sound waves are required. Experiments show that different types of waves are characteristic of various conditions of health. Another advantage of the apparatus s that it makes it possible for doctors to take a large number of pictures of"interesting and important cases, the records so obtained being of a permnanent nature. o Bryan Royalties $15.43 Miami, Fla. —(U.R) — Annual report of the estate of the lata William Jennings Bryan, filed here, showed royalties of $15.13 during the year 1930 on books he had written. - — — o Forget Where to Send Fine Saugus.
