ENTERTAINS BUNCO CLUB Mrs. James Gattshall entertain ed the members of the North End Bunco Club at her home on Seventh street, Wednesday evening with a party of Christmas appointments. A lovely Christmas tree was used and pretty decorations in keeping with the Christmas season were arranged about the rooms. Two tables were arranged for playing bunco, and after the games prizes for high score were awarded Mrs. Floyd Arnold. Mrs. Archie Foley. and Mrs. Dwight Kimble receiv- | ed the consolation prize. Mrs. Miles ! Baker of Fort Wayne was a guest other than club members. The small tables were then laid with linens and centered with Christmas tree candles of green, covered with artificial snow. Smith was hostess to the members of the Tuesday •'ight Club, at her home on First street, Wednesday evening, at watch time the annual Christmas Party and gifts exchange was observed. t hrlstmas colors of red and green were used In the decorations of the entertaining rooms, and a large beautifully decorated and lighted < hiistmas tree was arranged in the parlor, with two smaller Christmas trees forming an entrance to the rooms. A number of pretty lamps with red and green bulbs cast a subdued light over the rooms, and the curtains were also decorated with tiailing vines of the Yuletide colors. » Small tables were arranged for Bunco, and at the conclusion of several games, the prizes for high stores were awarded to Miss Mary M. Kean and Mrs. Cecil Franklin, and Mrs. Coy Martz received a consolation prize. At the close of the evening's game, the tables were arranged with luncheon cloths and centered with miniature Christmas trees. Candy Santa Clauses marked the covers for each guest, and were presented to the club members as favors. A delicious luncheon in two courses was served by Mrs Gerald Smith and Miss Geraldine Smith. The luncheon was carried out In the Christmas colors. Mrs. the hostess, presented each member with a lovely gift, after which the Christmas exchange of gifts was held. CHRISTMAS PARTY OF HISTORICAL CLUB The members of the Historical Club were guests at a lovely Christmas party, held at the home of Mrs. S. E. Shamp on Mercer avenue, Wednesday afternoon, when the offilers of the Club entertained with the annual Christmas social parly of the organization. The Shamp home was decorated with red and green Christmas wreaths and bouquets of red poinsettias. A large Christmas tree, with lights of many colors, formed a pretty decoration for the entertaining room. At one o’clock a delicious luncheon was served, and the guests found their places at the smail tables, laid with dainty linen lunch eon cloths, and centered with miniature Christmas trees in green conainers. Red paper nut cups filled with green candies marked the covers for each member. Following the delicious luncheon each member presented her Caps'll Friend with a gift, and as the gifts were presented, Mrs. Fred Ahr read a clever and original poem in which the names of the recipients of the gifts were mentioned. The poem was very amusing, and was greatly enjoyed. The ladies then drew names of their Capsul Friends for the next year, and voted to give three dollars to the Good Fellows Club. The committee comprising the club officers included Mrs. J. M Miller. Mrs. Charles Langston, Mr". W. F. Beery, and Mrs. Shamp. BRIDGE CLUB MEMBERS ENTERTAIN HUSBANDS The members of the Bridge Club | entertained their busaands with a dinner and bridge party at the home of Mrs. Bryce Thomas on Third street, Wednesday evening. Small tables were arranged about the parlor, where a delicious two! course pot-luck dinner was served. The tables were centered with green candles in crystal holders and other decorations of the room included a large pretty lighted Christmas tree, bouquets of tlie | Cliris:mas flowers, and red and, green tapers. The second course of Hie dinner consisted of green ice cream moldd as candles in holders. Following the dinner, six games of bridge were played, and at the (inclusion of each gain", tile pelson having high score at each table received a gift off the Christmas tree. The couple having high score tor the evening's games was Mr. and Mrs Herb Curtis, and Miss Flor-, e and Morris Haney received the consolation prize. The hostess presented Mr. and Mrs. Burchard Holton with a guest prize. Guests other than the club members and their husbands were Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Linn, and Mr.: and Mrs. B. Horton. The Christian Endeavor Soviet of the Evangelical Church will enjoy a Christmas party in the church . basement, tonight at seven-thirty o'clqck. The home was attractively decorat ed with re<l and green motifs and ' polnsettias in keeping with the I Christmas season. Artificial ice-1 I cycles were hung on the electroliers and a beautifully decorated and lighted Christmas tree adorned one of the rooms. Several small tables were ar ranged for playing bunco and at the conclusion of the games prizes for high score were awarded to Mrs. Dick Burdg and Mrs. Ralph Roop received the consolation prize. Mrs. Ervin Goldner, a guest of the club, received a lovely prize from the hostess. The guests were then seated at j a long table which was laid with a I cover of cotton and artificial snow ■ to represent a Christmas scene. Centering the table was a large red chimney filled with the exchange gifts which were connected with the individual covers by strands of tinsel. At either end of the table tall | red tapers burned throughout ttie| luncheon. A clever verse appeared on the place cards and corresponded with the gifts, which were distributed after the two course luncheon. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Frank Crist. PSI IOTA XI HAS CHRISTMAS PARTY The Mesdames William Linn and Leo Kirsch united in entertaining the members of the Psi lota Xi Sorority at the home of the latter's mother, Mrs. B. R. Farr on Jeffer- 1 son street, Tuesday evening with a| Christmas party and gift exchange. The Farr home was attractively I decorated with red and green mol-1 it's, and a large lighted Christmas | tree was effectively used in one of the entertaining rooms. Small tables were arranged about the rooms for playing bridge, and after three games were enjoyed, prizes for high score were awarded Mrs. William Lenhart, Mrs. C. C. Pumphrey, and Mrs. Carroll Cole received the consolation prize. The tables were then laid with linens and centered with red tapers in green holders, and a delicious one course luncheon of Christmas appointments was served by th? hostesses. The annual exchange of gifts was then held, the gifts being cleverly arranged beneath a Christmas tree. SHAKESPEARE CLUB HAS INTERESTING MEET An Interesting meeting of the Ladies Shakespeare Club was held at the home of Mrs. Cal Peter. j on on Adams street, Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Dan Tyndall had the program for the afternoon and her subject was in keeping with the Christmas season. As this ; was the last meeting before Christinas holidays she read an appropriate paper on the subject "Beth-1 lehem and the Christmas story," which is very old but always beautiful and sweet to hear. Two I sub-topics upon the subject were given by Mrs. John Tyndall and | I Mrs. W. A. Lower. Mrs. Tyndall then introduced 1 Mrs. Reusser of Berne, who re- [ cently returned from an extensive ' trip through the Holy Land, and ! I who was to speak to the ladies on I : that subject. Mrs. Reusser is an i interesting speaker and with the i aid of a number of pictures taken : on her travels gave an excellent description of the country and the people. She told of the sacred and ancient customs, some of which are still in existence.
