lot prison. Vote next Tuesday. Its your privilege and a great one if you use it as you should. Those citizens who complain between elections and then fail to vote should not be given much consideration. Even two years ago when interest i was at white heat, less than sixty per cent of the eligible vote was cast. There is a probability that unless some intensive work is done the next ft w days a light vote will *be east. Don't let that happen. Get busy and help get out the vote. Are you dissatisfied with the soli ailed "Republican Prosperity?” They are promising you a continuation of it. A vote for the democratic ticket next Tuesday means a vote in protest of the slip-shod methods in government which have brought about one of tlie worst depressions ever known in this country. Send new men to Washington, change the personel in the state house, be sure to elect demoI crats to the legislature. Its an . important duty. t— There is nothing the republican state organization and the state I house crowd so much fear as the I I election of u democratic legislature ■ next Tuesday. That fear is easy i | to understand. It is the reason that I Iso much of a drive has been put ! into the effort to elect republican . candidates for the Indiana house of representatives. Democratic | control cf the legislature, or even | of the lower branch of it, will open the way to needed and effectual I of the state govern- ’ ment. It will permit an examination of the governor's accounts ■ witli respect to his emergency | fund. It will permit an examination |of the state highway department, which long has needed such an examination. It will permit the learning of many a why and wherefore in the office of the secretary of the secretary of state, in the office of the state auditor. Indiana never has stood so greatly in need of a change in political control in the legislature /as now. Happily there is glowing promise that such a change is at length to come about. Th? people of Indiana ought, to be in no doubt of the necessity to elect a democratic legislature this year if they are to have their state government made responsive and responsible to the citizenship of the i commonwealth. The party in power 1 has been in power too long. It has assumed itself to have a separate and selfish interest in the government of the state and its reprei sentatives in office have been asserting a proprietary control of I it. —Fort Wayne Journal-Gazette. 0 • — —I ■—— — -111. -4 I Household Scrapbook ' I By ROBERTA LEE Parcel Post Packages Tie the package that is to be sent i parcel post, two or three times, and with separate pieces of cord. DOLLAR URGES GREATER DRIVE FOR TOURISTS Veteran Believes Pacific Organizations Should Coordinate Tokyo, —(UP) — Transportation lines, tourist organizations and government bureaus throughout the Pacific areas should inordinate heir efforts to promote tourist travel in :he Orient. Captain Robert Dollar, veteran head of the Dollar Steamship Lines said in an interview here recently. "Amercians travel to Europe lit’rally by the hundreds of thousands every year." Captain Dollar said, and they spend hundreds of millions of dollars. As a shipping man ■ uterested primarily, in the Pacific I [would like to see more of travel come to the Orient. We have heard a lot about the ‘Pacific Era' and it seems to me Americans might do well to see it first hand. n inc; easing numbers, the area in which this "era's dawning." Captain Dollar, 86 years old and oremos: among American steam- j ship operators, said the primary i purpose of his trip—one of more tian a score he has made to th? I Orient —is to promote trade “tour-! st and general." He thought more ! and better hotels in Far Eastern ! .orts and tourist centers would be essential as the tourist traffic de- i velops. When Satisfied ABOUT THE ONLY MAN IN THE W ORLD who is satisfied with his job is the self-made man. It is a fact that a large part of the poverty of the world is due to downright unwillingness to light for a competence. And the most dangerous thing about such poverty is that its victims often become reconciled to it, and take it for granted that it is their fate and not to be overcome.
