It’s what's inside the cabinet that counts. And that is why we urge you to inspect the remarkable new Glow-Boy now on exhibition at our store. Open the door of the Glow-Boy and you will see the same construction used in heavy-duty basement furnaces. Its Heat Amplifying Casing Shield alone adds 25% heating capacity and gives a corresponding saving in fuel. Glow-Boy keeps all the rooms and ail the floors uniformly warm. Yet for all its efficiency it is as beautiful as a piece of fine furniture. See the Glow-Boy. Schafer Kdw. Co. BRAZIL GIVES DRY LAW PLAN CONSIDERATION Officials Discuss Heavier Taxes On Alcoholic Beverages P.iO IK Janeiro. Oct. 2,I—(UP) Brazil may become dry. but if it does it will not be thruogh the ehan uels used in the United States. The government’s plan would be l to impose heavier import taxes on : liquor and on the manufacture and 1 distribution of alcoholic beverages. This. o'ficlals believe, would cut down to a minimum the consumption of intoxicants and eliminate t’ae ■ necessity of a dry enforcement or-, ganization such as is necessary m the United States. The argument is that with the imposition of the heavier import amt manufacturing taxes, along with higher licenses lor operator.of saloons, liquor prices would become almost prohibitive. The proposed action has already brought protests from Portugal. Cuba and reat Britain, from which most of the imported liquors used are shipped. But the protests have ; not kept the officials from a serious study of the situation. Many officials believe that the alcoholic tax is certain of promulgation very soon. 0 * TWENTY YEARS AGO TODAY I From the Daily Democrat File 1 * October 23, 1910 Was Sunday. i
