The motor was operated under the supervision of T. E. Hienton, of Purdue University agricultural , engine :ing staff. Reporting on results of the work. Hinton said the motor had operated steadily throughout the day in threshing oa‘s from a 48-acre field, with an output of 155 bushels an hour. Aug. 28. — (U.R) —The government of Argentina was reported in private cable advices received here today to be “seriously alarmed over the possibility of a political movement headed by military elements." The advices said opinion in Buenos Aires indicated that “it is entirely possible something of the sort should happen.” o Discard Jewelry Crawfordsville, Ind., — (UP) — Wearing engagement and wedding rings and other forms of jewelry practically has been abandoned in Montgomery county, assessor's fig i ures shew. Out of over 30,000 per sons living within the county limits 'only 233 reported, under oath, that they possessed jewelry. Aug. 28 —(UP) —Ornamental pieces, carved from the “Van Buren Elm” which formerly stood at Plainfield, are in the possession of Luther Symons, sta’e banking commissioner. The old elm was the object ci much interest before it was blown down during a storm a year ago. Martin Van Buren, president of the United State from 1857 to 1841 is said to have stood beneath the hanging branches in 1842 while the stage in which he was making a tour wax being pulled from a mud hole iu the road.
