We are not nearly as interested in the investigation of the recent Lake county primaries as we are in precautions that will guarantee a fair count there next November, J •Thats something. About every day we read in big headlines that the tariff bill is at stake. We don’t know just what 48 meant by that but it has been ( ‘at stake" so often that we have 'determined it can stand just about *any thing. Old man Grundy didn't get far when he put it up to the people, die was appointed senator and seemed to think he could put over i a victory with his organization but 1 James Davis won easily in the Tuesday primary. Its not avery 1 good year for the advocates of a tariff as high as the skies. — '"W" Berne and Bluffton have voted I decisively against daylight saving, the former at a meeting of the business men, ten to one and the lat.’ter at a regular election covering , 'two days, voting no. 840 to 409.1 Huntington voted for it while: Plymouth and Marion have recentSemdac invites the Sunshine r = W J I W ! ?A / ■ When the sunshine streams in the windows it sweetens the ait. Seems to be a matter > of opinion of the folks in various i j | places. — • 1 Invitations have been issued to I the 1930 commencement exercises lof the Decatur high schools, the I occasion to take place next Wednesday evening. It Is the fortyninth annual event of this kind and this year the class includes 1 fifty-six fine boys and girls, wellfitted to start careers either in . business or in higher educational lines. A campaign is on now to force • through the next session of the Indiana legislature an old age pension and those favoring it point to the fact that ten states already have such laws, which, however, doesn't prove a thing. The people are heavily taxed now and will not look with favor on any proposition to increase the burdens even though there are many points in favor of such charity. Three years ago today was Lindy's big day. Since then everyday has been a large one. The young flier had no idea when he dropp'd his plane in that Paris field that he would be from that moment for a long time the most I talked of person in the world. He has gone far since and has kept his head, working always for the greatest good for the air service. He is still soiiie boy and the folks { love him. Under tlie ordinance regulating the shooting of fire works it is unlawful except as permitted by the mayor. This permission is usually given for the day or two before the Fourth and no doubt will 'be granted this year. Those who have already started the celebration may discover that there is such lan ordinance in effect here. Its one thing to be patriotic and quite another to take advantage of the , season of the year to cause disI turbance. The democrats are planning a .platform for adoption in the coming convention and from the number of committees named and the many questions submitted they , will probably write one that few of the voters will ever read through. It has long been one of [the mistakes of political parties and it seems they expect to continue it indefinitely. We never did understand why they didn't try I the suggestion of writing the platI so: m on a postal card. After all what the p-ople want to know is jv.ltpt the democratic or republican idea is on various matters and that could be told in single sentences; easier understood and i easier read. = ----- Health teaching may well lri centered about vacation plans at ! this time of year. Prof. J. Mace I Andress suggests to teachers in 'the monthly school department which he conducts in hygeia. Every vacationist is subject to more dangers during vacation than he would be at home. Students should be trained in the principles of safety to meet the common dangers incident to traveling on the highways, trains, boats and on ' foot. When accidents occur they | should know the right things to do. Dangers to health that meet the vacation seeker may iie in unsafe water and milk supplies and often in insanitary restaurants, fatigue and exposure. Training in personal and community hygiene is th? best protection. _____ o— - Satan'* Advantage He who will fight the devil at ■ his own weapon must not wonder If I l,e finds Idm an overmatch.— : South.

Uf~\NCE I was worried. MealVz time was getting on my nerves. I prepared many appetizing dishes, but John simply would not eat—just 'minced' at I his food. Perhaps sometimes a fe little grouchy. I began to fear « he was 'slipping.' What was I ■ to do? Love, home, happiness, ■ business success —all depended p* upon an improvement in his u condition. The blood-tonic idea g suggested itself to me. My E Druggist recommended S-S-S. I He told me that S.S.S. was a 1 great blood tonic; that it had ■ been successful for over 100 years; that it was made from strictly fresh vegetable drugs and was beneficial to the most delicate system. Also that it would build up the blood and improve the processes by which the body is nourished. I brought home a large size bottle. John agreed to try it. Well, in just a few days I could see the difference. His improvement has been so rapid he is going to take several more bottles, and not only that, but he I is now telling his friends to take S.S.S.” It is a known fact that when a man’s system gets “run-down,” he hasn't the resistance to ward
