The final count was 112 9 in favor of the Eagles and It marked the fifth straight victory for that school this spring. Home runs were abundant and D. Lytle for the Eagles tore the cover off the ball for two homers while his brother "Cocky” Lytle for the Alumni knocked a pair of homers. Fleming. BASEBALL TEAM IS ORGANIZED —- Decatur will have an independent baseball team this year, it was , announced today by Glen Marlin. , manager of the newly organized . Decatur Pirates. The team is I composed of former high school and college players and will be one of the strongest to represent Decatur since the days of Pat Coff >e. • Buck Baxter. Hex Cochran and the ’ Johns boys. • The team practices several ’ times each week in preparation I for the schedule which will start "ithe first Sunday in May. For the I first few Weeks the games will be played away from home, but after mid-season. Manager Martin plans to bring his team into Decatur for a series of games with neighboring cities. The games probably will bo played at the South Ward baseball diamond. A few of the ‘old timers' and a great number of younger baseball players are working out with the team. Manager Martin slated that in all probability his team would be bolstered with tbe | addition of an imported pitcher and two fielders.
