IRISH NETMEN DEFEAT LOCALS IN GREAT MME Central Catholic Team too Strong for D.C.H.S. and Win in Last Hall Decalur Catholic high, school Commodores loiight a gnl’nnt battle lor 30 minutes last night against Central Catholic high school basketball team of Fort Wavne al Decatur Catholic gymnasium and then completely collapsed in the closing minutes to lose a 12-20 decision Io tin* lastgoing, hard-driving Irish visTha crowd that packed every corner of Vatholic high school gymnasium. Finally Centra, Catholic broke loose with a terrific offensive drive nnd led by Captain Schwartz the Iriali piled up a commanding lead in the closing minutes. The Commodores led by Petie Mylott fought until the last second but the last ten minutes the Commodores were fighting a better basketball team. Mylott pulled the Decatur crowd to, its feet when he crashed through a strong Centra' Catholic 1 defense to score a field goal shortly after the game started. A minute later Petie repeated and the score was 4-0. Central Catholic, took time out and the two teams then battled on even terms for several minutes. With the half more than 10 minutes cone, the Irish broke Into the scoring column when Benniran crashed the defense for a fielder. The count was tied at 4-4 and the Irish took a 6 4 lead. It was ni,n and tuck for the rest of the half with both teams battling for the breaks. Just as the half ended Sc hwartz. Central Catholic guard, broke through for a field goal and Referee Geary awarded him two fiee throws. He made them both and the count stood, 17-13 at the half in favor of the visitors.
