Members of the Henry Mayer family became frightened this morning when they saw smoke coming from n liedroom and called the local Fire Department. The fire, howevei proved to be only a furnace pipe which was burning out and no damage was done to uny other part of the house.
Bowman To Be New State Tax Secretary Indianapolis, Dec. 20. <U.R) - Lewis S. Bowman, Indianapolis, former state auditor, will become secretary of tho state tax board January 1, succeeding Bert S. May Crawfordsville, it was announced today by James Showalter, chairman. He will return to the field force of the tux board, Showalter said. Bowman served two yeans as state auditor and for seven years was auditor of Wayne county. The board also appointed Kay Shank, Angola, us a field man.
