RESEARCH CLUB ENJOYS CHRISTMAS PARTY The members of the Research Club enjoyed the annual Christman party, Monday afternoon, whi?-h was held at the home ot Mrs. C. C Pumphrey on South Third street The affair was in the form of a one o’clock luncheon. The small tables were placed about the living room, and the entire home and tallies were artistically decorated with Christmas colors and effects. A pretty Christmas tree also furnished a further decorative note to the party. Each table was centered with a crystal candle holder with tai! red tapers, and covers were marked by the place cards on the prett-i ted nut cups. Graham leader for the meeting, told a Christman story, entitled "Mr. Perryman's Christmas Eve'. by Francis S. Vorcher. Mr , Runyon then invited each lady to go to the Chlrstmas tree ’<> Pick a plum, and on opening them, numbers were found. FIVA HUNDRED CLUB HOLDS CHRISTMAS PARTY The members of the Five Humi'd Club were delightfully entertained with a Christmas party, la** evening at the home of Mrs. Herman Gillig. At six o’clock a delicious dinner was served and the t ible was centered with a little Christmas tree, and at each end of the table was placed a tall red taper in a ciystal holder. I'h ■ gifts for the Christinas exchange were found under a large decorated Christmas tree and each member present was the recipient of a gift. The remainder of the evening was spent in playing Five Hundred. At the conclusion of each game, the two persons having high scores at each table dtew and the winner went to the table called the gift shop and selected a gift. Mrs. Joe Lose was presented the prize for high score at the close of the evening's entertainment. SATURDAY NIGHT CLUB ENJOYS DINNER BRIDGE Mrs. 0. L. Vance was hostess to the members of the Saturday Night Club. Saturday evening. A dinner was served in two courses, after vhicli the remainder of the evening was spent in playing Bridge. Miss Della Sellemeyar was a guest of the Club Mrs. L. A. Graham was presented with the prize for high score. ENTERTAINS MONDAY AFTERNOON CLUB Mis. Frank Gillig entertained the members of her Five Hundred Monday Afternoon Club at her hom»> on Fouth Fifth Street yesterday afternoon. Several small tables were arranged for playing Five Hundred and during the course of games each lady having high score was permitted to select her prize from the “Variety Stole" which was cleverly arranged in the dining ‘room of the Gillig home. Brizes for high scoie were awarded to Mrs. Dynois Schmitt, and Mrs. John Neeiing, and consolation prizes io Mis. Anna Keller and Mrs. M. J. Mylott. Mrs. Fred Schulte and Miss Nell Gobrid were each presented lovely guest prizes. At the conclusion of tlie games Mrs. Gillig, assisted hy her sister, Miss Gabriel, seived a two course luncheon of sersonal appointments. ENTERTAINS PIANO CLASS Miss Su.? The ladies were entertained by the members of tli<> Junior Arts Department and the High School Girl's Glee club who presented a good program. The evening's entertainment was opened by the entire club joining In singing three Christmas carols, "Joy to Hie World," "Come, All Ye k’nithful,” and "It Came Upon The Midnight Clear," which were led by Miss Dessolee Chester. Miss Dorothy Haley accompanied at the piano. Following tlie songs a clever one act play entitled •'With Toys" by R. N. Baker was,presented by the of the Junior Arts Depart incut. This play was given under Hie direction of Mrs. C. (). Porter and Miss Vertical Whalen. Tlie story contained >• I'hrfMtmii* theme and was woven about a brother and ester, Bobby and Betsy who had been separated. Betsy wanted her mother to purchase the Masked doll for het and when refused wandered away from her home. She entered Ihe toy shop where she found many dolls and toys which had not been sold at Christmas time. She fell asleep and the dolls came to life in her dream. A clever story was enacted witli the finale finding a separated father and mother united and the brother and sister, Bobby and Betsy, tlie owner of all the dolls in the doll shop for their Christinas gifts. The girls of the Junior Arts Department presented thulr parts in a pleasing manner and the play was enjoyed by all those present. Following the pay several musical numbers including tlie Cantata, “Chimes of Hie Holy Night" were presented by the High School Girl's Glee Club and several members of the Junior Arts Department. The musical numbers were under the direction of Mi s Dessolee Chester and were accompanied at the piano by Miss Louise Haubold. The social hour of th ' evening came under the direction of the Music Section of the Woman's Club who served tea, wafers, and Christmas candies to the members of She ehil> and their guests.
