Where did the summer get to any way? It certainly has a habit of pass- | Ing all too quickly. i The wheat and corn average yield ( In this section is nothing to brag about but the indications for a better than average for corn and beets are still very good and that will help a lot. England is opposing Owen D. Young's reparations plan and they are working up quite a campaign one way and another, but it doesn't seem to worry Mr. Young very much. He s a democra. and used to losing when he knows he's right. Henry Ford has bought a 1909 motorcycle from a Richmond. Indiana, man. Now lie will probably need quite a building in his museum if he buys all the motorcycles that will be [ dug up with a certified pedigree way back of that. Richmond now becomes a one newspaper city, the Paladium and the Item | having merged. Each was considered I a high gtade newspaper but the ever increasing costs of production made It necessary to‘ reduce to one property. Both papers will be published from the sam oil -e. Whoever John Ladig is, he is quite J an exerciser. Aft r he had tumbled over from a heart attack just this side of Fort Wayne, he recovered and proceeded 'to walk to this city, according to a story from police officers of Fort Wayne. Victor Berger, for several years the only socialist member of congress is dead following a street car accident three weeks ago in Milwaukee, where he lived. Berger had considerable ability and was given credit for being I honest, fearless an d industrious I though he failed to convince many in this great country with his theoreis of government. The city council will not permit the suspension of crossing watchmen! because of the intallatiou of the wigwags. Those few crossings where watchmen are now maintained are impor.tan" ones and the safety of the public is more necessary than the reduction of overhead. Thats what the board of safety, the city council and the public thinks about it any way. A Chicago man named Greenfield confiscated or spent money amounting to three quarters of a million dollars. Seems to have been the old gag. He made money for a fewpeople and then used the cash that flowed in to gamble on his own hook. He los and couldn't make good the demands, so his balloon was bursted. A Fort Wayne woman worked the same racket on a smaller scale and went to prison recently. We ought tq quit “kiddin' ’’ about it and go at it and build a hundred housefa. -We need thMn and the cjty has, reached a point where we can't grow without them. They can be readily rented and sold. What in the dickens prevents it being done? If no one here wishes to make the splendid investment we should take the matter up with outside concerns

Fruit juices and cider for home consumption are not in violation of the law, according to a decision by Commissioner Doran of Washington, provided they arc not intoxicating in fact. We don't know just what that Is, but we understand it to mean that not more than one half of one per 'cent of alcohol is permissible if we [don't gel “stewed.'’ I Only a month until the opening of (he b(g street fair and agricultural show here. The premium lists are out and ready for distribution and hundred of people, farmers and qlty folk, will find Interesting premiums for display of live stock, products, fancy work, flowers and other Hems. Get one of the lists, look it over, then get your stock or articles ready to show. Thats what will make the event a success. The new Rugg street sewer is to be of modern specifications and better than the old style, but at that the sewers here have performed a wonderful service, far better than in most cities. The time is near we hope' when Decatur will have an incinerating plant to take care of her sewage so that the St. Mary's can be beautified and made a wonderful asset to the city. The fiarruff plans for the Rugg street sewer is a big step in the right direction. We thought the flag pole contests silly, we felt the chewing gum marathon ridiculous, we have felt that a lot of these freak endurance races
can afford pimples TTArPY is the woman who has a LI clear, smooth, flawless skin! Both men and women admire such captivating loveliness. First impressions cannot be good without a clear skin—first impressions are quickly made and are not soon forgotten. Old friends may excuse pimples and secretly sympathize but new acquaintances may not be so charitable. Skin blemishes are not inviting. Neither can they be covered up. They embarrass. Hold people back. Steal away joy and happiness. A lovely—clear skin—is within the reach of all. To those who have lost it, hope is offered. You, too, may have a beautiful skin, rosepetal in texture, pretty as a picture and without a single pimple. Strong, healthy blood nourishes the body and fights against infection and dis- '( ’ ease. Without plenty Sos rich, red blood, there could be no strong, sturdy, powerful men, or beautiful, healthy women. RCQ
