OPINION DIVIDED ON NEW CURRENCY Tellers And Clerks Resent Confusion Os Two Sizes Os Bills Washington July 11 —(UP)— The advent of the new small size paper currency, »3,921,000,000 of which already has been distributed to federal reserve banks throughout the country, finds business executives and clerks sharply divided in its reception. While banking and commercial ex ecutlves generally favor the smaller bills, tellers and clerks whose duty it is to handle large quantities of money regard them from a different angle. They realize that until the old bills are redeemed confusion and added work will result in handling two different sizes of notes. Classes are being held at some of the larger department stores here to familiarize their employes with the small bills. Clerks are taught to “learn the denomination by the picture.” Many firms have printed forms detailing the changes to be found in the new issue. Business men look forward to possible mechanical changes necessitated by the new style money. They dislike to contemplate altering cash drawers and money bins, but they realize orderly stacking of bills may require changes. In the end the taxpayer will benefit by the change for the treasury announced saving of approximately sl,500,000 a year will be through reducing the size of the bills. Former Dean Os I. U. Funeral services will be held at Bloomington. o— Think Man Disappeared To Collect Insurance Evansville, Ind., July 11 — (UP)— Rumors prevailed here today that Allen S. Yeager. 33, business man, did not drown in the Ohio river Saturday with Russell Horrls, 12, but disappeared in the hope of collecting insurance money. R. H. Pennington, Yeager's father-in-law, told newspapermen that the supposedly dead man was In debt to the extent of $3,000 and that he had staged the drowning as a hoax in the hope of "taking care of his debts.” The father-in-law also explained that insurance was made payable to Mrs. Yeager, although he did not know the amount. Carl Cowles, 17, was said to have told newspapermen of helping Yeager stage the hoax. According to reports, Cowles drove Yeager's automobile to the river where a small boat had been sunk. He said he aided because he was afraid to refuse.
