Miss Thelma Smith, sister of Mrs. Buffenbarger is a member of the graduating class of South side. Melvin Collier, son of Mrs. Anna Collier of this city, is also among the graduates. Patrol 2 and 3 of the Girl Scouts will meet with Marcella Brandyberry, Friday afternoon at two-thirty o'clock. Every scout is urged to be present and bring books and lobes. ENTERTAINS ZION LUTHERAN W M S Mrs. Paul Busse and Mrs. O. Fuelling were hostesses, yesterday afternoon, to the members of the Woman’s Missionary Society of the Zion Lutheian church, at the Busse home. The meeting was opened by Rev. Paul \\ . Schultz, who read a passage of Scripture and followed with an interesting addtess on Missionary Work in India. During the regular business session, seventeen members responded to roll call. Plans were discussed and a committee appointed |to complete same, for a card party to be held on Wednesday evening, June 26, at the school house. Tickets may be secured from the four members of this committee, Mis. Herman Dierkes, Mrs. Wilhelmina Dierkes. Mrs O. Fuelling and Mrs. Arnold Gerberding. It was also decided to hold an outing and basket dinner for members of the societies and their families, on Sunday July 14. at Sunset Park. The outing will follow the regular church service on that day. Rothrock, Notary Public but declared she did so because "he wanted a large supply to pass out for his own popularity.” o Caraway Elected Captain Os Purdue Baseball Team Lafayette, Ind., June 13— (U.R)— Elbert Caraway, who led the Big Ten conference in batting, was elected captain of Purdue University's 1930 baseball team. Caraway, who played many positions for the Boilermakers, had an all-season batting average of 556. q Scouts Os Van Wert County To Hold Rally _j — *■ Van Wert, Ohio, June 13 — BoyScouts from all parts of Van Wert county will hold a rally in this city Friday evening, June 14. Various events are planned, starting at 6:45 o'clock. The events will demonstrate a Scout's training and will include knot tying, making and using bandages, pitching pup tents, signaling, and building fires. June 13.—(U.R)—Subpoenaes for appearance before the grand jury, here, of Boyd Gurley, editor of the Indianapolis Times, and Warren Fail banks, publisher of the Indianapolis News, have been issued, it was learned today. It was considered likely both would be questioned in connection with articles printed in their papers commenting on alleged election frauds in Lake county. o Channel Tunnel Begun About two and a half miles of the tunnel under the English channel were constructed by ISBS, in which year the project was abandoned on military grounds. Meetings in the great tabernacle at the end of the Pontiac car line will begin on Sunday, June 16, with services at 10:00 o'clock. They will lie held daily for two months at 2:30 and 7:30 o’clock and three times on Sunday. By means of a remote control hookup over radio station WOWO, the services will be broadcast every Sunday morning, from 10:30 to 12:30 o’clock.
