What a hound Voltaire, must have been? The United States treasury has just adjudged obscene a book published by him 170 years ago. The dandelions and weeds will ruin the appearance of any property and. they certainly don't help adjacent lots very much. Please see that they are kept down. Candidates in the recent primary election must file their expense account today and even if it totals exactly nothing you must still file a 1 statement which says so. There is a J severe penalty if you fail. Please don't overlook the fact that Decatur needs rest rooms and comfort stations which are open day and night, Sundays and holidays and not just a part of the time. Strangers may like the appearance of the city but they will say kinder things about us when these comforts are provided. There is a steady growth in Decatur which is just what we should appreciate. We do not want a boom but we do want a steady and healthy growth. We either go forward or retrograde. Cities like individuals do not stand still. Its splendid that we . progress. A paid secretary of the Decatur In-; dustrial Association would mean a! number of activities that we won't . have if we depend on the busy business men who are members to look after them. We would like to see arrangements made to try it out for | the balance of the year. It won’t cost ' much and if it pays we can continue | it. What do you say boys? The city council will support the 1 agricultural street fair to be given ■ here in September under direction of j Adams Post of the American Legion.l That means something for when the , city promises to help it means just that. The Legion will be given use| of the streets and the city will aid • in every way they can to make the I event a great success. Sale of licenses for automobile i drivers began today and between now and July Ist you are .expected to secure one. If you don’t do this by July Ist you subject yourself 4o arrest each time you drive. The licenses are easy to get, cost twenty-five cents and that much more for the notary fee. You may not like it but the directions say its another little dose of taxes that you must swallow. Decatur may well feel proud of her two junior bands which under the supervision of David Rice, an old Decatur man who has traveled far and wide and had ‘charge of some of the best bands in the country, are making splendid progress. Mr. Rice is popular among the youngsters and deserves the support of the community in his efforts to provide musical organizations which will be a credit to our city. Hall & Talmage, who are building new houses in the northwest part of the city are certainly hustlers who deserve to win. They secured a deed for the property at one o’clock yesterday afternoon and within fifteen minutes had a force busy laying out the ground for the first house. They expect to erect a dozen or perhaps
Jmore residences here tills summer, i which will help the community and . provide modern residences for many. [ Decatur is growing aild there is no (better evidence than the confidence ' shown by these builders. - - o ffiTowriTalk [ Well, I've seen, pictures of all the i principals In the Cameola Soutar to!- ' ler skatin’ queen murder mystery an’ ' I'm in favor o’ givln’ ’em all five mlni utes to git out o Indiana. My! you look lovely to-night” SHE knew the compliment to be true —for the last pimple had vanished. If you are one of the embarrassed—and men are not exceptions —with skin blemishes that linger, and sometimes leave scars, you must realize that the logical cause may come from the blood. A clear, smooth, velvety skin bespeaks loveliness. Men admire it. Women praise and secretly envy. Hope, joy, happiness, and even love, may depend on the possession of a clear, unblemished skin. On the other hand—skin eruptions are outward evidences of the condition within. Authorities state it is an indication that the body’s power of resistance to disease and . infection is low. MX ■■ sturdy,, powerful men, or beautiful, healthy women. When you get your red-blood-cells back to normal, that sluggish letdown feeling, loss of appetite, boils, pimples, and skin troubles disappear. You get hungry again and you sleep soundly; firm flesh takes the place of that which was once flabby. You feel strong. Your nerves become steady. You are resistant to diseases. S.S.S. is Nature’s own tonic for improving the appetite, building strength, and clearing the body of so-called skin troubles, by increasing the red-cells of the blood. . S.S.S. is made from fresh vegetable drugs and has stood the test of over 100 years. All Drug Stores sell S.S.S. in two sizes. Ask for the larger size. It is more economical. Copyright 1929 S.S.S. Co.
