Stripes Generously Used This Spring I Xi'W YORK. May 13. —(U.R) —It is with caution that even the mere menI f stripes is permitted—eince there is the possibility that those who th m will "erssh” u all by ealllnß out ‘Awning Stripes’ too loudly, ami that I' 1 '' 1 ' 'mory of a season when these were printed in colors too violent and too ■ ' ... on every cheap fabric will be fatal to the budding success of this 1 It Is true, however, that some of the exclusive creators of fashions have
■ some charming and original K’ with stripes this season, in Ebinations of white with one bright E strong color in some more shaded JT,Thov have appeared in tail E sportswear and in spectator Krts'tvpes. in the popular tones of ■hP season with some green and some K.nce They have a fresh, daring ■ alitv which seems to suit the AmeiK woman. They appear in shirtK, ist (rocks and in three-piece enKenihh's sometimes with a cape inRead of a coat. The stripes may con t t in the jacket, blouse and skirt Ehr as vertical and horizontal Kfferts are concerned. The silks in Eltich they appear are solid and the Eedgn is woven rather than printed. ■ Striped silks for evening are much Ever in tone with Roman-striped Eiffons playing a colorful role, red K n d yellow and black making sharp Entrasts on white backgrounds. ■ Stripes somehow belong as much E n the summer as do plaids to the Enter season, yet both plaids and Eripes are being banked on for early ■fall wear, and are already being noted E those who persist in meeting ■fashion half way. ■ program for |w.
