Mrs. Ervin Foley and infant will return this evening to their home in Preble, from the Adams County Memorial hospital. Miss Emma Striker, who underwent a major operation about two weeks ago, at the Adams County Memorial hospital, was released yesterday, and returned to her home near Berne. Timothy Coffee, medical patient at the hospital, continues in a very critical condition. TO MAKE APPEAL FOR NEAR EAST In response to a nationwide appeal to American Catholics to unite in support of the 1929 Papal program of international welfare and relief, the diocese of Fort Wayne with the approval of Bishop John F. Noll will take an active part in the third annual roll-call qt the Catholic Near East Welfare Association. The roll-call will be conducted in all churches ot the diocese on Sunday, April 21. On that date parish priests will ask the members of this this diocese to renew their pledges and invite new members to join the Association, which places all funds contributed at the disposal of Pope Plus XI philanthropic work principally in Near Eastern countries. It is also planned to deliver a special sermon in all parishes of the Sunday preceding the membership J ill-call. April 14, outlining the purposes and aims of the Association, at which time a message from Pope Pius, directed to all members, will be read. It is the expressed wish of His Holiness that the work of the Association continue and broaden in the interest of international peace and harmony, and to this end he has created it a Pontifical Association and the sole Catholic agency authorized to conduct charitable activities in the Near East. o BERNE NEWS Fred Beitler and daughter Erma.
