It whipped through several suburbs, uprooting houses and blowing down trees and then lashed east into Wisconsin. Columbia Heights, Forest Lake and New Brighton were the outlying villages hit hardest as the tornado swept across to Wisconsin. , Telephone and telegraph wires were blown down and communication paralyzed. News from hard hit areas filtered in slowly, many conflicting reports concerning the death toll making an accurate check impossible until communications are restored. o Husband Is Fined For Beating 14-Year-Old Wife Indianapolis, Apr. 6—<U.R>—Edward Kelly, 23, was fined $1 in municipal court here, on charges of beating his 14-year-old wife. The complaint was made by the girl’s mother, who said Kelly beat his wife even shortly after they were married, she being 13 at the time.
