DEGATI’R DAILY DEMOCRAT FRIDAY, MARCH 22, 1020.

CATHOLIC CAGE CHAMPS BEATEN Chicago, Mar. 22. -(U.R) -St. "Xavier high school of Cincinnati furnished the outstanding upset of the national Catholic, basketball tournament thii' afternoon by defeating De LuSr.lle high school of Joliet, national champions since 1926, in the f*rst game of the second round. The score was 22 to 15. Morning scores in the first round: St. Michael's, Union City, N. J., 23; Marquette, Milwaukee, Wis., 2S. St. Ambrose, Davenport, la., 15; Baraga, Marquette, Mich., 12. o McLarning Favored To Lick Ray Miller Tonight New York, Mar. 22.— CU.R) B is 2 to 1 on Jimmy McLarnln and 2 to 1 for the speculators tonight. Ever since the McLarnin-Miller match was announced, there has been such an incessant demand for tickets that the price of admission has trebled. The battle over tickets threatens to exceed that which "ill take-place in the ring in Madison Square Garden tonight. Yet the little Jewish cartoonist known as Ray Miller should give Jimmy McLarnln. the baby-faced Irishman from the far coast, the battle of the latter’s comparatively brief career. It will he the last fight held in Madison Square Garden until May 3, hut the prospective merit of the contest offsets that argument in the mind of the average fight fan. o B. F.
