Washington, Feb. 26. —Before authorizing organization of a national bank in Bluffton, Ind., the office of controller of the currency will conduct an investigation of the needs of the community and the wishes of the residents as well as the standing of various persons who are seeking a charter for a new bank in that city. Three Fort Wayne men Monday separately consulted Controller J. W. Pole with a view to obtaining a Bluffton bank charter. One was Frank CutshaJl, vice-president of the Old National Bank of Fort Wayne: the second was Charles Buesching, president of the Lincoln National Bank of Fort. Wayne, and the third was Harry Fair, vice-president of the First National Bank of Fort Wayne. The appointment of Mr. Flanders was made by Hames Enloe, head of the state pure food and drug department. Mr. Flanders is active in Masonic circles in Fort Wayne. o— —— Wisconsin Asks Congress For Modification Vote Madison, Wis., Feb. 26.—(U.R) —The Wisconsin legislature today asked congress to provide a national referendum on the question of modifying the Volstead act. The resolution of Sen. Thomas M. Duncan, Milwaukee socialist, petitioning congress to take such a step, was concurred in by the assembly after its adoption previously in the senate. o Two Killed When Train Hits Auto At Indianapolis Indianapolis, Feb. 26.— (U.R) Authorities started an investigation today into the crash here of an automobile and train in which a ‘man and a woman were killed. The dead. Mrs. Lillian Anderson, 33. and Fred (Wendling, 49, both of Indianapolis. According to witnesses, Wendling, driver, apparently saw the approaching train but continued across the tracks.
