BLUFFTON WINS FROM DECATUR SECONDS, 32-19 Bluffton high school second team opened up an offensive attack on the Iloeatur high school second team In the opening minutes of the first game of a three-game series played at Bluffton last night und romped away to a 32-19 win over the embryo Yellow Jacket < The game was the flrpt of a series to determine the champion of Adams and Wells county championship second teams and the winner of two games will receive a ttophy presented annually by Kip Offs, of the Bluffton News, and Mark M. I’pp. of the Decatur Democrat. A good sized crowd watched the Bluffton Yearlings climb into a onegame lead ever the local aggregation. Decatur used eight players in an effort to stop the "heat" of the lathy Tigers, but the early lead was too great to overcome. Bluffton started right off tossing the ball through the net from all parts of the floor and at half time was I leading 20-8. In the second half Decatur made an effort to overcome the big lead, but the Tiger cubs played a slow | offensive game and held possession of the ball a great part of the time The final score was ’32 19. The second game of the series will be played in Decatnr and the date will be announced in the nex' few days. It is planned that if a third game is- necessary, it will be played as a preliminary to the Bluffton-De-catur varsity game to be played at the Parlor City, February 22. Adams | county’s entry in the independent amateur invitational basketball tournament being played in the Warren high I school gymna dum under the auspices of the Phi Delta Kappa fraternity, defeated the Huntington Kappas, I :e I team that was doped to win the tourney : in the first round, 25-23. The game was played at 7:45 o’clock last night. The Kirkland-Huntington game was a fast and closely contested game. At I no time during the first half was there more than two points difference ini the score. Kirkland led at the rest | period, 13-12. Huntington pulled awayi to a 21-14 lead in the second half with . only three minutes to play. The Kap-1 pas then attempted to stall the remain- 1 Ing three minutes, but the Whippets broke up the stall and Arnold. Byerly and Bill Bryan sank baskets to tie the score, at 23-all. In the closing seconds. Bill Bryan scored the winning goal from tip off play. The tournament opened Wednesday night.
