The Huntington school <li<l not have a team last year, but prior to that tinv Sue; were regular opponents of the Commodores. This year, the Lime City team has been playing good hall, it 1, st to Anderson Catholic at Anderson by two points, the same margin by which the Commodores were defeated at Anderson. The Huntington quintet wil be one of the entries in the state Catholic torney tuliis year. Il will play Anderson at Huntington. C. C. H. S. of Fort Wayne and Richmond Cathie lie after playing the Commodores here. The Alumni of Decatur and Huntington Catholic highs will clash in a curtain raiser to the Commodores game with Huntington. The Commodores will go to Indianapolis Saturday night of this week, to play a return game witli Cathedral high. Although the locals defeated Cathedtal here several weeks ago by a big scote, they are expecting a stiff little at Indianapolis as the Cathedral team is always hard to defeat on its own floor. Captain Petie Mylott, of the Commodores, was put of school yesterday and unable to apretice last night, due to illness. He is reported to have an attack of the flu and it is not known whether he will bo able to make the Indianapolis trip Ait Miller, a forward, who was stricken with the flu while the team was on the Anderson trip recently, has not regained his full strength. .Q Field Goals ddQ K A'fl ‘Bleacher Bteezes." That’s the name Cash Keller selected for his column in the Washington Herald, fclowing a contest in which some few hundred tijles vpre suggested. We imagine we'll catch out selves calling Cash's column Southern Breezes pretty often due to the geographical location and to the w.itmth of Cash’ comment. Cash pauses I ng enough in his chatter about southern Indiana basketball to comment on a couple of games played last week-end by his former pats, the Huntington Vikings. "South Sitre cf Fort Wayne bea* Huntington, dere ole alma mater, by a 5:1 to 4t; score Satin day night. There were enough points .scored at that affair to have won three or four ball games. The Lime City boys also were hot on Friday night and crushed Herb Curtis's Decatur team by a 43 to 25 score." Then Cash waxes warm and remarks thusly: "But beating Fort Wayne teams at Fort Wayne is like beating a certain other team at a certain other city. It can lie don, but —My, my! Could it be that lie means Huntington? More Caustic Comment Frankfort showed its tensile strength by licking Logansport 36-23. < ase's All-lndiana team is going good, It seems. Murray Mendenhall's Central Minstrels, (with apologies to The Scoreboard, Kendallville News-Sun) of Fart Mayne, almost had a good joke cracked on them, last Satin day night. The three colored boys and their white helpers were given an awful scare by Hie New Haven Bull Dogs, but managed to win, 21-16. Berne defeated New Htven Friday night, 31-30 and Kirkland trimmed the Bull Dogs a week Previous, 26-25. Hto second game of the annual three
gumr- scr.es between the Central and St Joe eighth grade quintets to lie played in the Catholic school gym Friday night, ought to attract the fans too. Central copped the first game of the series, rather handily, but St. Joe st ilted immediately after that game to formulate their plans for obtaining revenge in the second game. The winner of the three game series Is recognixed as city eighth grade champion and obtains possession of the George Wemhoff m ithle trophy tor the ensuing year. Cathedral high of Indianapolis who will play host to (he Comtnod ires Saturday night, take on the Crawfordsville high school five tonight and meet the Anderson Catholic high team on Friday night. Nothing Hke being ambitious. “8 overtime periods decide ckhse game" reads a headline over a story telling about a game between two junior league teams at Columbia City. Isn’t the word close slightly superfluous in the headline? A Tip From Buck The Decatur Yellow Jackets g.i to Auburn this week and are expecting to win as they defeated Auburn at Decatur. 42 to 21.
