LOCAL QUINTETS TO PLAY TONIGHT Both Decatur high school basketbail teams will be in action thin evening, the Yellow Jackets playing at home and the Catholic high school Commodores going to Fort Wayne for a game with Central Catholic high, an old rival. Angola will oppose the Yellow Jackets In a Northeastern Indiana conference game here tonight. The upstate team comes to Decatur with several veterans In the lineup and a fairly impressive record this season In their last game, the Angola eagers defeated Bluffton. The second teams from the two schools will play the curtain-raiser, starting at 7 o'clock The big game is scheduled to start at 8 o’clock. Fold Griffith, of Auburn, and Morris Tudor, of Fort Wayne, will officiate. It is highly probable that Joe Krick, veteran hack guard for the Yellow Jackets, will be out of the game to- , night, due to an injury to his knee. , which he sistained in the Columbia i City game Tuesday night. Couch Cur- ! tls has obtained a new and stronger I brace for the knee, which was orig inally injured last winter, and the coach is hopeful that the new brace will prevent any further injury to the knee. Coach Curtis said today that he was undecided who he would start in Krick's position tonight. Several fans will accompany the Commodores to Fort Wayne, for the | game at Library Hall. Pre-game dope gives the Commodores a slight edge in tonight's game, but games between these two old rivals are never decided on dope and a great scrap is anticipated. o Butler Five Trounces Missouri Tigers, 38-25 Indianapolis, Jan. 4- U.R/ hitler university continued its march through basketball opponents here last night | with an easy victory over the I'ni . verslt y of Misouri, US to 25. DECATUB DAILY DEMOCRAT FRIDAY, JANI ARY 4,

• Field Goals By Mark M. Vpp Art Miller, Commodore forw.ird, who became ill with the flu while the team was at Anderson. Tuesday night, is ;; still in the hospital ai Anderson, Mar's i-ellus Miller, student manager of the . team, is temainlng with Art to keep I him company and, we imagine, read the basketbal news to him Art will ba missed when the Commodores meet C. C H. S. at Fort Wayne tonight Wo hope he makes a speedy recovery In another place on todays sport page appears the i finding of Adutns I' county high school teams As far as we have been able to keep check, this t ref' rt of games won and lost is cor,l iect However, if any team is listed ing I correctly, the coach of that team is „ requested to put us tight. Since Kirk ! land was not a member in good standing of the I.U.S A.A. before January 1, . we decided that the fullest way 1.0 list ( that team was to give it i clean slate ' on January 1, with no games won and none lost. The defeat handed Monroe ' by Kirkland befoie the latter was sus- ' pended from the J.H.S.A.A. is counted as a forfeited victoiy for Monroe in tlie standing. i ' Angola comes to town f r a game with the Yellow Jackets with a strong 1 team and a good record. In their last game, the upstaters handed Bluffton ■ a six-paint defeat. The locals may ex- , pect a tough battle, especially if Joe 1 Krick is unable, to get into the game at guard, which is most likely. With pre-game dope fairly evenly dli vided, the game between the Commo- : lores and the Irish of C. C. H. S., at ; Fort Wayne, tonight, promises to be equal to all previous contests between i the two schools in interest and excitement. The Kirkland Kangaroos take on two tough ones this week-end after being out of I.U.S.A.A. competition tor the past two months. Petroleum tonight and New Haven Saturday night. I No doubt, there will be a lot of Adams county fans among those present in i the Kirkland gym Saturday night, to see what Coach Bill Bryan has to of- : fer this season. This Bluffton-Huntington scrap at Blufft- n is one of the impoitaut ones I in this section of the state tonight. Its about time for those Tigers to begin to i mtnence to go somewhere. Speaking of Bluffton's future, the I following paragraph fioni Rip Offs, of I the Bluffton News, touches u the ' subject pathetically: “Sciny news foi the Tigers but MilsI selmat), Liberty Centei player last j year and a student at B. H. S. this year i is ineligible to play, according to the j I.U.S.A.A. Board f■ und the lad had I been given a signed diploma and parti- ‘ cipated in all graduation exeicises at Liberty Center last year.
