Coach Curtis sent his Yellow Jackets through a workout Monday in preparation for the Friday scrap. He was highly pleased with the results cf the Friday night game, but indicated there would be no letup in the strenuous practice which the Yellow Jackets have been having for the last two weeks. There is a possibility that the North Side game may be cancelled or postponed. due to the epidemic of influenza in Fort Wayne. The public schools in that city were closed yesterday and will not re• .pen until January 3. A few members of the North Side basketball squad are ill, but so far t.ie game has not been cancelled. Officials of the Decatur and North Side schools were in conference in regard to the game yesterday, but it was decided to wait until later in the week Itefore deciding j whether or not to delay the game j Kocher, substitute guard‘on the Deca-1 tur varsity squad, was out of practice Monday, due to sickness. Gerber was reported to have a sore throat, bitwas out for practice. Coach Laurent gave the Commodates a night off after their fine game of Saturday night, but said that starting Tuesday hard practice sessions would be held the remainder of the week. In the preliminary next Saturday night, the Commodore second team will meet the Mount uth high school netters. Tickets will go on sale Wednesday for both games and indications are that goal sized crowds will attend both games, regardless of the fact that local stoles are remaining open at nights to take care of the Christmas trading rush. Single admission tickets for the Yellow Jacket game Friday night may be obtained at the Decatur high school building and tickets for the Commod re-Springfield clash Saturday night may be secured at the Eats restaurant. — o Tommy 1 oughran Wins From Big Boy Peterson Chicago, Dec. 18 — (U.Pj — Tommy Loughran, who gave up his light heavyweight title to compete in the heavyweight class, wen his first start bygetting the decision over big boy Pet-er-on in ten rounds here last night. That doesn't look so good for the Norse. Auburn has . i beaten South Side at Fort Wayne and Garrett at Garett but also took a twenty point setback at Decatur. Herb Curtis’ Decaturites, by the way. doubled the score on South Side last week after the Green Archers had decisivelywalloped Bluffton on the previous week-end.
