FOUR COUNTY NET TEAMS TO PLAY TONIGHT Two Games Scheduled For Saturday Night; Frankfort Plays Kirkland Four Adams county basketball teams will swing into action tonight and the 1928-’29 basketball season will lake the center of the stage in sportdom and hold it for several months. The Decatur high school Yellow Jackets will meet the New Haven high school netters at the local gymnasium at 7:30 o’clock tonight.' It was stated at Decatur high school today that a record number of season tickets had been sold, and a large crowd is expected to at tend the game tonight. Berne high school tangles with the Portland aggregation at the Berne gymnasium tonight. Monroe plays Monroeville at the latter place and Jefferson will meet Bryant at Portland. Early season predictions are that Decatur. Berne, Jefferson and Kirkland are the four outstanding teams of the county this year. Decatur has a strong opopnent tonight, New Haven has practically the same team as last year when it caused the Fort Wayne school no little worry in its quest for the county < hampionship. New Haven is regarded as one of the strong Allen county quintets. Bet ne is expected to take the count of Portland in the former's gymnasium tonight. Berne has the best team it has had for several seasons, ami indications are that school will have a successful net season. Jefferson mixes with Bryant at Portland tonight and should come home with a scalp. Monroe plays Monroeville and has a good chance to come home with a win. KIRKLAND IS READY FOR CAME Coach Bill Bryan sent his Kirklnnd high school Kangaroos through a strenuous work cut Thursday night in preparation for the basketball game with I Frankfort high school to be played „t the Decatur high school gymnasium Saturday night. The game premises to be one of the headliners of the season in this city. Ftankfort high school won the state championship in 1925 and always has iad a sttong net team at the state tournament. •Last year Frankfort went to the semi-finals, defeating the undefeated team East Chicago. 23-20 in the first . game and winning from Logansport in . the second round 15-11. In 1923 the | Frankfort netters also went to the] semi-finals in the state meet. • All cf this year's team played on the squad last yeat and the Frankfort fans' say that their team will be one of the chief contenders for the state title this | year. The team includes the following players: W. Unroe. R. Unroe, Shaver. I Hollis, Hadley, Brimmer. Armantt tit, | Lawhead. Meneely, McCreary, Good, | and Thompson. Coach Case is bringing ' his entire squad to Decatur for the game Saturday night. The big game will start promptly at | 8:15. COURT HOUSE Will Is Filed The will of Henry C. Grote, well known Adams county farmer, was probated today. The document was written on March 24. 1921. After making a request sot the payment of debts and funeral expenses, the residue of the estate, both real and personal was be queathed to his wife, Caroline E. G'Ote. Mrs. Grote was named executrix, her bond of $2,500 approved and letters of adniinlftration issued. In the estate of Louis Gehrig, to determine the amount of Inheritance tax due, the court found the gross value of the estate to lie $10,673.52, the tie' value $9,388.28 and no inheritance tax due.
