VIOLENCE CLAIMS LIVES OF EIGHT Two Killed In Airplane Crash; Automobiles And Guns Take Toll Indianapolis, Sept. 11 —(U.R> > fence claimed eight lives in Indiana over the week-end. Dorwln Leighty, IS, Otterin'.' gh school athlete, and Robert Hurns. 15, freshman nt the same school, were killed when an airplane in which they were passengers, crashed at Otterbein Sunday. Donald Burgett, pilot, of Chambers, Ind . was seriously injured. Mrs. Elizabeth Stewart, 78, of near Seymour, was killed when she stepped from a plane onto the highway near her home. The car was driven by Mrs. Dan Sutton, of Seymour. Fred Leagg, of near Madison, was killed in an automobile accident at Callis Grove. Ky., Sunday. His son-in-law. Hugh Andrews, was injured. Mis. Florence Byroad. 36, died in an Indianapolis hospital Sunday of injuries sustained July 16 when she accidentally shot herself with a pistol while unpacking fishing equipment. Henry West. Vincennes, died of injuries sustained when he was caught beneath a falling beam. Bert Harris, 45, Indianapolis, was fatally shot in a quarrel Sunday night by Porter Jordan, also of Indianapolis. The gun play was believed brought on over the dead man's wife. Will S. Smith. 60, Bluffton, ended his life by shooting at Bluffton. Worry over finances was believed the motive. BERNE NEWS The Misses Arviila Hilty, of Lima, Ohio, and Henrietta Schenck, of Pandora, Ohio, were Sunday evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Amstutz and family. Mr. and Mrs. M. L Klopfenstein, of Grabill, and Mr. and Mrs. Marion Witmer. of Fort Wayne, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Edison Sprunger, Sunday. Marshall Bolton and Mrs- Mary Prescott, cf Cromwell, were week-end visitors of their sister, Mr. and Mrs. C. P. Heckathorn. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gesaman, of Huntington. were visitors in Berne, Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Menno Neuhauser, of Napoleon, Ohio, spent the week-end at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Neuhauser and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Rinigger returned to their home at Gridley, Illinois, last week, after having spent the past three weeks at the home of their son Mr. and Mrs- Ed Rinigger and family. Mr. Rinigger accompanied his parents to Gridley and returned Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Lehman and child and Miss Elizabeth Voran, of Littlefield, Texas, arrived here Saturday evening to visit at the home of Mr. Lehman's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John LehmanMr. and Mrs. Simon Egley and daughter Miss Eva, of Leo, were visitors at the home of their parents and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Abe Egley, Sunday. Miss Elizabeth Habegger left Sunday night for Bluffton, Ohio, where she will continue her studies at Bluffton College, after spending several weeks with her parents here. Rev. and Mrs. C. H. Suckau and son Theodore and Menno Burkhalter motored to Wheaton, Illinois Monday, where Theodore will attend Weaton College. o MONROE NEWS Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Rayl .Frank and Edna Rayl and Noah Hunt of Wren, Ohio motored to Tipton, and spent several days, returning dayMr. and Mrs. Paul Graber, of Berne were guests of Miss Sylvia Rayl, Friday. Crist. Mrs. Crist’s condition is somewhat improved. They removed her from the hospital Sunday morning. Mr- and Mrs. Roxie Kessler, of Berne were callers in town, Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. John F.
