In order to receive a merit badge for swimming: a Scout must be able to swim 100 yards; demonstrate the crawl, breast and side strokes; and swim 50 yards on his back. Scouts, Dailey and Hite also passed the swimming requirements for the athletic merit badge in which a Scout must swim 20 yards in 17 4-5 seconds and must also pass similar tests in running, jumping and throwing a ball. Scouts Hite and Burk are Star Scouts and members of Troop No. 61.
