LIBRARY GIRLS MUSTN’T MARRY AT CINCINNATI \ t int innai Ohio -4U » Dan Otpid has Jnsi about up the fight in Ohio. A short time ago he was dealt a st.)2gering blow by the ruling of the school board of Newcemerston. Ohio whic stipulated there shall be no marriages among the women school teachers of the town and no "dating" between teaeher* and students. Then thing* went along serenely aid he was recuperating manfully from the effects of the Newcomerston verdict, when a servnd catastrophe occurred. The board of trustees of the Cincinnati public library has ruled that the women members of the librae staff who have served less than three years shall automatically tender their resignation by tying the eternal knot. The ruling was made, according to Chalmers Hadley, head librarian, to prevent young women In the library training school from “filling in ’ between graduation and marriage. ‘‘We feel that young women who neglect their work for showers and teas when they are engaged, will lie gleet it after they are married,” said Hadley. “Our school's object is to train women for careers, not just to offer them jobs. There is one consolation. The girls may wed witfi the consent of the head librarian and hold their position. Cu pid is a little encouraged hv the news however. He has fuiud through experience that head librarians, school principals and members of various boards of trustees are notably cold hearted people in that respect.
