Smith proprieteress. 122-5; Man Rescued Alive After 147 Hours In Wrecked Mine Mather, Pa., May 26.—(U.R)—Mumbling incoherently, John Wade, negro worker in the Mather mine, lay in a hospital here today after being rescued from the mine shaft, whbre he spent 147 hours after an explosion. Wade was found last night, two and a half miles in the interior of the shaft. He was half crazed when rescue workers came upon him. Apparently he had wandered from section to section of the mine, where 200 workers were killed, seeking an outlet from tlie gas fumed interior. One hundred and seventy-one dead have been brought from the mine. At least 25 more are in the mine, rescue workers said. Ihe fast time will be effective in the banks after tomorrow, it was decided tinough a vote taken by the clearing house association,, and while some of the smallei banks are not members, it is expected they will follow the lead of the laiger institutions.
