There is no reason for not doing business if yon are wide awake. < Senator Watson hasn't helped much to clean up Indiana but for that matter nni'her has Mr Hoover. Both of these men have been rather busy trying to keep some semblance of decency in the national capital. If you wish to live long and enjoy it. keep bees and eat honey, advise; John Anderson, greatest bee expert of tile world We suppose ho meaus that the oftener we are stung the better it is for us. If you haven't attended to the duty of getting the rubbish ready for the annual clean up, better get up and at it early Monday morning so you will be ready for the trucks when they arrive. For Walb and Weaver, the citizens, we have sympathy but for these men in their wrong doing we have no compassion. The way of the transgressor is hard and in many cases men who but recently were respected and ad-' mired leaders are now paying for the foolishness of unwise acts. Nino Pecoraro, a New York artist who claims to be a medium,'yesterday tried to bring back the spirit of! Harry Houdini on an offer from the I Science and Invention of $21,000 if he ! •)) could produce any phenomenon that I cannot be duplicated or explained by natural, scientific uy/aus. The magazine still has their s2l,ttOO. The democratic primary iu Adams county has been clean and without the mud slinging which often accompanies such contests. We hope it so continues and we believe It will. Work for those candidates you feel will best represent the party and best conduct the offices to which they aspire. Work as bard as you can but be dean about it. Thats always good politics. "=-"■•4 Marlin B. Madden, chairman of the appropriations committee in congress Oj) and one of the veteran representatives from Illinois, died suddenly yesterday of heart trouble. He was one of the staunchest supporters of the Coolidge administration and held great power ’because of bis position and his experience. It is expected his place will be taken by Will 11. Woods, ranging member of the committee. Mr. Woods is congressman from the tenth district and his home is in Lafayette. Decatur- will entertain several hun died viriturs tomorrow, the occasion of Ihe Northern Indiana Legion t unferemc. Included among them will boa number of distinguished citizens of the state. To each and all of
them we extend u hearty greeting nnd I give the assurance that they are welcome to Decatur. We believe they like the hospitality which will be extended them and that they will ' enjoy the occasion All members of | i the Legion arc invited to participate ( tn the meeting which will be held at ' the Decatur Country Club during the afternoon and evening. I We talked recently wi|b a farmer J who declared that the secret of suei cess on the farm these days is dairy--1 mg and showed us a check for 182.00 ! which he said was his average for two i weeks from his herd of cattle. Wo know of a number who have a similar record. Crops may fail but dairy products insure a comfortable income Cows represent a wise investment, their upkeep docs not require a large outlay, they consume (arm products that might otherwise be wasted, wherever a farm boasts of a number of good milk cows there you will find prosperity. Boost for more dairying It pays a dividend the year around. It helps the farmer, the business man! and the community. — Whoever you may be for, whatever( your party preference, you should vote in th» primaries to be held one | week from Tuesday. We have heard la number of people say they are so disgusted with affairs that they will not vote again. Thats the poorest i thing you can d > The way to have cleaner and better government is for the good citizens to take a more active part in political campaign" Help elect officials who will conduct their : offices in an efficient and capable manner. Tou can't do that by refusing to vote. Only about fifty per cent of the eligible -voters In Indiana have been going to the polls. Tliats a shame and may accouxUto some ex ten' for the troubles we have been having. Vote and insist on your F friends and neighbors doing so. Barou Gunther Von Huejtefeld. Ma jor Fitzmaurice and Captain Hermann Koehl, heroes of the air, first men to achieve the crossing of the Atlantic from the east to the west, arrived in New York yesterday afternoon but tlie long expected fliers did not remain long or did they enjtjy the re ception so elaborately planned Instead they transferred W a relief plane and hurried wr. to Washington where they took part in the services which marked the burial of another airman, Floyd Bennett, who died of pneumonia at Quebec while on his way to carry relief to the thre* - foreigners. Tribute was paid to Bennett by the representatives of many nations and the body of the man who had dared and jteeompWi . ed much was laid to rest by the sftle ' iof numerous American heroes at ; Arlington cemetery in the city of Washington. : *¥¥¥¥¥*¥**¥»* * BIG FEATURES * * OF RADIO * j4*U*¥¥¥¥¥¥«¥M I SATURDAY'S FIVE BEST RADIO FEATURES WJZ— hookup 7 pm.
