The kidanpers were believed to be holding Gaynor in southern Wisconsin and the'Chicago detective shoped, I with the aid of Wisconsin- authorities, to capture the gang and free the prisoner. Police would not confirm reports that the kidnapers were supposed to lie hiding near Delavan, Wis. Two members of the alleged kidnaping gang were captured last night when they attempted to collect $lO,000 ransom from James McCormick. Gaynor's partner, and it was understood that a confession of one of the tv’p led police to make the Wisconsin expedition. Jack McGurn, gangster, was shot several weeks ago jn a tobacco store in the McCormick hotel, owned by I Gaynor and McCormick. Your petitioners further aver and say that the highway herein sought to be improved is a public highway already established ami in use aifd that said Street is a public Street laid out and established and in use and that There is a large amount of public travel over .said highway and street, and that Xhe same will be of public utility and benefit. Your petitioners ask thaKsaid highway and Street above described be properly drained and graded, that crushed stone and sand cushion be placed upon the grade, that upon the same there be placed gravel or stone having a suitable binder for hard sufrace road or other solid paving material. 1 Your petitioners further ask that said highway above described be drained and graded, and that the jjame be improv* d to a width of forty feet; that the.same be graded to a width of thirty feet, an I that such paving material be place’ll ' thereon to a width of twenty-two feet 1 within thr corporate limits of said ' ’lbwn of Berne and eighteen feet bc,\ond the corporate limits, and such a ’ depth as may be determined by the proper officials having the same to do, 1 and that the same be called the Reichert Road Improvement. ' That to pay for said improvement, we • ask that bonds be issued by the County 1 of Adams, in the State of Indiana, in ' twenty semi-annual installments or ser--1 ies, and for the payment of which we ' a: k that a tax be levied upon the 1 able property of said Wabash and Mon- ’ roe Townships in a sum sufficient to ' pay the interest and principal of said 1 bonds as they become due.
