Marguerite Hann gave a farewell party, Monday evening, for Miss Goldie Gause who left today for St. Marys, Ohio, to establish her residence. Melville Silvers, Cleo Yoder, all of St. Marys, Ohio, and Miss Goldie Gause and the hostess, Mrs. Marguerite Hann, of thia city. ENTERTAINS TIRZAH CLUB The members of the Tirzah Club and their guests were entertained, Friday evening, at the Yoeman Hall by Mrs. John Burk and Mrs. Wro. Thornton, at a St. Patrick party. A program in keeping with St. Patrick’s Day, was given under the supervision of Mrs. Burk. At the close of the evening, refreshments were served, the entire effect being daintily carried out in green. A nice sized crowd was present. TO GIVE OYSTER SOCIAL The Ladies AJd Society of the Calvary Church will give an oyster social, Friday evening, at the church. The refreshment list includes oyster soup, beef soup, sandwiches, pie. candies and coffee. The Calvary church is located five miles east of the city. The general public is cordially invited to attend. The social that was to be given by the Senior Christian Endeavor society of the Zion Reformed church on Thursday night will be postponed until a later date on account of the scarlet fever epidemic. The meeting of the Minnehaha club, which was to have been held Friday evening of this week, has been postponed because of illness. Miss Dessolee Chester, motored to Fort Wayne, Monday evening, and witnessed the production of “The Beggar’s Opera" at the Shrine Auditorium. The music pupils of Fort. RESEARCH CLUB STUDY HUMORISTS Mrs. James Frlstoe was hostess, Monday afternoon, to the members of the Research Club, at her home on Mercer avenue. Mrs. (). L. Vance had charge of the program anti used as her topic, "Literary Humorists.” For current events, each member responded to a request for a humorous story by some well known humorist. In a well prepared paper, Mrs. Vance gave briefly, an outline of the outstanding humorists from the time of ’’Sam Slick” down to the present time. Among those mentioned were: Josh Billings, Artemus Ward. George Ade, Finley Peter Dunne, anti Ring lordlier. Mrs. Vance discussed at length, the works of Mark Twain, Irvin S. Cobb and Will Rogers. At the close of the paper, the hostess served delicious refreshments of chicken pies, mashed potatoes and gravy, pickles, coffee and nablsco wafers. The meeting next week will be held with Mrs. Harry Ferntheil and Mrs. Frank Downs will read a paper on "Joseph Conrad.”
WOMANS CLUB TO HEAR LECTURER Professor Tilden, speaking on the subject, "Our Changing World", will feature the, program of a meeting of the Decatur Woman's Club, which will be held next Monthly evening beginning at 7:45 o’clock, at the Library auditorium. This is the only lecture presented before the chib daring the present club year and a good attendance is desired. Tickets will also be sold at 50 cents each for any one than club members who are desirious of hearing this popular speaker. These tickets may be secured from any member of the Literature Department of the club or at the entrance door of the auditorium. The Woman's Foreign Missionary Society of the First Methodist church, will give a Missionary Tea, Friday afternoon, at two o'clock, at the home of Mrs. Ross W. Stoakes. Each member is requested to bring a guest. Mr. and Mrs. J'. R. COURT HOUSE Files Suit For Divorce Anna Spade, of Decatur, today filed suit in the Adams cirruit court for a divorce from Charles Spade. The couple were married September 4, 1926 and separated March 7, 1928. Mrs. Spade alleges that her husband cursed her, called her vulgar and indecent names, and continually nagged her. In addition to seeking a divorce, she asks for SIOO Alimony. Attorney H. M. De Voss, of Decathr, is counsel for the plaintiff. Two Claims Filed Two claims were filed against the Mary Clark estate today. One, filed by William Stauffer, is for $35.99 and the other, filed by Phebe Clark, is for $2,000. Released On Bond An affidavit charging transportation of liquor was filed in criminal court today against Lloyd Baker.
