FRANKLIN ROAD MAP COMPLETED New Ma p Os Benjamin Franklin Highway Received By Daily Democrat A new map of the National Benjamin Franklin Highway, which passes through Decatur and which is reputad to be the shortest and best transcontinental route, ha-s been received by the Daily Democrat from I the national headquarters of the Benjamin FVauklin Highway Association, ■ in Indiana, Pennsylvania The termina's cf the highway are at Atlantic i City and San Francisco and the distance covered js 3,179 miles. The road has the best grades and least curves of any of the transcontinental roads and avoids the congested sections of large cities. Great benefit will be derived by the communities through which the road passes and with the earnest cooperation on the part of the towns and cities along the route, this highway can be made the greatest and most outstanding in the country, the one over which most of the long distance traffic will be routed. More than twelve million autos will tour the highways during tre 1928 season and more than a billion dollars wlil be spent by tourists while on these trips. This is “Big Business" and the town or city that is not preparing to take care of its share of this trade is surely overlooking a golden opportunity.
