ENGINE, ENGINEER UNHURT Jeffersonville, Ind., Feb. 23—(U.R)---Though the laity are advised against trying it, it is apparently no great trick for an engineer who knows his engines, to be struck and run over hy a speeding locomotive, and escape with a few minor scratches. Peter Yutemeyer. 48, Big Four engineer demonstrated hero a few days ago how it should he done. Yutetneyer jumped from in front of an on-coming possenger train, only to land In the path of a swifty backing switch engine. He was thrown forward and fell on his face, his body parellel with the tracks. The engine and tender passed completely over hitn before the horrified driver brought the engine to a grinding stop. Yutemeyer arose and dusted his clothes unhurt, and then proceded to see how closely he missed death. A brake hanger that would have dragged him beneath the wheels missed his body by inches, the air hose which scratched his face, barely touched him. his clothes were not even torn. Shortly after the accident Yutemeyer climbed aboard his engine and brought it to Indianapolis. . His wife on being informed of her husband's miraculous escape, refused to believe it possible, exclaiming. *'You can’t tell me an engine ran over him and he was not hurt.’’ She was finally convinced of the truth when railroad officials assured her the report was authentic. She said Yutemeyer had been running an engine on the Big Four for 17 years, between Indianapolis and Jeffersonville. and had been in several acci-
