DELTA THETA TAUS ENJOY DINNER BRIDGE Misses Germaine Christen and Rose Marie Smith were hostesses, Tuesday evening, to the members of the Belta Theta Tan Sorority at tin? home of the former on North Second street. At six-thirty o’clock, a most delicious three-course dinner was served by the hostesses. The dinner was carried out in valentine appointments, and Miss Naomi Holthouse was the honored guest of the evening. Miss who is a member of the Sorority, left today to join the Holy Cross Order. The president. Miss Mildred Keller, in behalf of the Sorority, presented the departing member with a beautiful pair of brass book-bnds Four games of bridge wete then played ami prizes for high score were awarded to Miss' Mildred Niblick and Miss Naomi Durkin A clever guessing contest was then held and Miss Margaret Mylolt was successful in winning the prize. A short business session closed the ev'nuigs festivities. The next meeting the sorority, will lie a business meeting in two weeks. Tit'' Pocohontas Lodge will hold ini"ation services. Chase, of North Fifth street. As requested by the hostess, tile guests all came dressed in gingham dresses of .abbreviated lengths, with ribbons on their hair and school books under their arm. The Chase home representing the “district school house’’ was decorated in keeping with Valentine Day. The nut cups and tallies were also carried out in Valentine appointments. The hostess acted as teacher of the school, and the first session was devoted to progressive arithmetic, a tongue-twis-ter reading lesson, progressive geography and gymnastics. A short recess was then enjoyed, after which a spelling bee was held. Prizes for being the brightest students in the class were awarded to Mrs. Harry Magner, Mrs. Harvc Baker, and Mrs. Alva Lawson the awards were made by tho County Trustee. A delicious luncheon was then served in dinner buckets of various sizes and shapes, and the school was dismissed for the evening. MARY AND MARTHAS ENJOY VALENTINE PARTY The Mary and Martha class of the I Methodist Sunday school was entertained at a delightful Valentine party Tuesday evening, at the home of Mrs B. J. Rice, 237 North Fifth street. The hostesses for the evening included Mrs. B. J. Rice, Mrs. Ross Malonee, Miss Kate Mangold, Mrs. Burt Lenhart Mrs. Ella Eady, Mrs. I Fenn, Mrs. Charles Feasel, Mrs. Fred Nichols, Mrs Ed Zimmerman. Mrs. E. A. Maun Mrs. James Hoagland, Mrs. Doris Stalter and Mrs Charles Colter Fifty mem-1 bers were in attendance. Mrs. R. D. .Myers opened the meeting with devotions, taken from the jQjird chapter of Luke. The minutes of the last meeting were lead. One hundred and five calls were reported, as haying been made during the past month by the visitation committee, and a total of three hundred and seventy-five duri ing the past year. The treasurer’s re- | port for the year ending, showed that V>o had been paid by the class on the cottage at Lake Webster; s4o to World Service; with a balance of $27.19 remaining in the treasury. The election of officers was then held with the -following results: president, Mrs. Anna Malott; secretaiy, Mrs. Mat tin Gil son; and treasurer, Mrs. Latina K'ill. A social hour was then enjoyed. The home was beautifully decorated for the occasion in Valentine hearts and streamers. Valentine contests were then enjoyed after which dainty refreshments ’ were served. The Loyal Workers Class of the Evangelical Church, will meet with Mrs. Minnie Teeple o 'iShort street, Thurs-j day evening. MEETING OF DUTIFUL DAUGHTERS CLASS The Dutiful Daughters class of the Evangelical Sunday school was entertained. Tuesday evening, at. the regv ar business and social meeting, by Mrs. Ralph Gentis .at her home oji Marshall street. Tho meeting opened with a scripture reading and prayer, after which twenty-one members responded to the roll call.
